It feels like there's a lot of hype centred around the next entry in the Test Drive Unlimited series, entitled "Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown", and today we've been treated to a September 2022 release date along with a setting reveal.
As you can see from the trailer above, Test Drive Unlimited: Solar Crown will be set in the location of "Hong Kong Island", which you'll be able to navigate in 1:1 scale. An interview with developer KT Racing revealed that the map will feature forests, marshes, mountains, beaches and more, and game will take the form of an MMO.
In addition to the Solar Crown tournament, you'll also need to pick one of two clans to join - the Streets or the Sharps - and work your way up the ladder individually while also working as a group to try and overthrow the other clan.
It's still all a little bit vague, and there's no gameplay footage as of yet, but at least we've got a release month, a setting and a few more details. We're definitely keeping a very keen eye on this one over the next year-or-so!
"The next step in your Solar Crown adventure starts today. Kylotonn Studios and Nacon Publishing are proud to present the location of Test Drive Unlimited Solar crown as Hong Kong Island!
Navigate the bustling island in glorious 1:1 scale, and be absorbed by the city. Pick your path as either STREET or SHARP and let your personality shine."
Will you be drifting through Hong Kong Island in Test Drive Unlimited 3 next year? Tell us down below.

Another studio announcing a launch date over a year in advance... do they never learn?
I'll pay attention once there's some gameplay, this tells me almost nothing... except Hong Kong, which is nice.
Better than 3 years in advance. Had a very Bond feel to it.
I've always found TSU very underwhelming; indisputably impressive in terms of map size but that's really the only thing the series has going for it. Forza Horizon 5 is out THIS year, so I have no reason to even give Solar Crown a second thought.
This is a much loved franchise and I enjoyed the old games... But a lot of time has gone by and Forza Horizon has set the gold standard for open world driving games, can this compete? No chance. Could it still be fun? Maybe?
