It's time for another round of Pick One! This week, to celebrate Sonic The Hedgehog's 30th anniversary, we thought we'd take a look back at the history of the series on Xbox, which includes a lot of ports of older titles!
The original games are included in this lineup, then, but Sonic didn't actually make his debut on Xbox until 2003's Sonic Heroes, and the most recent release was 2019's Team Sonic Racing. So, which of these titles is your favourite?
Remember, you can only pick one!
Let's take a look at some of the highlights of what we're working with:
Sonic The Hedgehog

Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed is simply one of the best kart racers I've ever played, so my vote will have to go to that game even though Generations was amazing.
Sonic Mania, baby! 🦔
I really need to get into the Sonic franchise more, I've only really played the original..
@LtSarge
They should remaster that game with better graphics and 60fps. I'd buy that in a second.
Sonic Mania is great, but I've always had a soft spot for Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.
Nothing can top Sonic 2 for me.
The hype surrounding the run up to launch was crazy!
Getting it home and plugging it in was the stuff of dreams 😊
@LocalPenguin I remember being in boarding school and a friend from Hong Kong had a videotape of upcoming Mega drive games - we watched and re watched the Sonic 2 feature for months before finally getting our hands on it.
If I had to go with a traditional game, it would be Sonic Mania but I absolutely loved Racing Transformed. Wish they had made a sequel to it rather than the Team Racing game. Transformed is my all time favorite kart racer even over the Mario Kart games.
Sonic Generations. It was the first modern Sonic game that just seemed to check all the boxes for me.
Never been into Sonic games was more a Mario platformer.
However did enjoy Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast a little.
Probably Sonic Mania but I'm crossing all my fingers that the likes of Generations and Sonic Racing Transformed get fps boosts which would make the glorious to play on Series X
@awp69 @LtSarge I only recently got into Sonic Racing Transformed on Steam but I agree that its at least as good as any Mario Kart game
I am really wondering that there are more votes for Sonic 2006 than for Sonic Unleashed. Who are those people who vote for Sonic 2006? It's the most awful Sonic game ever.
@TJ81 That's interesting you bring that up. I too had a VHS tape of upcoming Mega Drive games! Bet it was the same one haha This showed off some Chemical Plant Zone gameplay 😁
Sonic adventure was so bad ass when I first played on Dreamcast. All the swag games going to the original Xbox like shenmue 2 is what’s made me get my 1st one.
@LocalPenguin That's the one! Some of my fondest gaming related memories are that VHS and the subsequent Nintendo 64 VHS (when it was still 'project' Ultra 64) preview footage of Super Mario 64 etc. I'm not complaining about today's gaming environment but there is so much choice which leads to sooo much backlog and being an adult, little time to plough through it.
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle. Just so good.
Sonic 06 is a classic that is in a league of its own!
Absolutely none of these. Sonic Spinball is definitely my favorite Sonic game, followed up by the sphere game you get when you put Sonic on Sonic and Knuckles.
@TJ81 Haha amazing!
Yeah I had a bunch that got given away with various magazines etc.
The death of printed media (for the most part) is a sad thing. Getting that new Mean Machines or NMS magazine was amazing.
We're definitely getting (got??) old mate haha
But, what a time to be alive 😊
Mania is great but Generations is my favorite.
Anyone who says anything other than Mania is a psychopath
@LocalPenguin Brilliant magazines and I'd add Gamesmaster to that list.
@TJ81 I'll pop it next to CVG 😁
@LocalPenguin how could I forget!
Sonic Mania for sure. Sonic had an awful relationship with the 3rd dimension since 3D blast.
Sonic Adventure was the first sonic game i ever play back in the Dreamcast era and still loving it.
