Welcome to another weekend! There's plenty of new content to check out on Xbox Game Pass over the next few days, including Maneater, Conan Exiles and MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, along with various sales on over 300 Xbox games, a brand-new release in Biomutant, and Xbox Series X upgrades for Saints Row 3 and Human: Fall Flat!
Here's what we’re jumping into over the weekend:

You know what I've been doing a lot recently? Going back and playing my non-backwards compatible Xbox 360 games on the original hardware. I've been trying to earn some achievements towards the Microsoft Rewards 10k challenge (yes, even Xbox 360 games count), so I've been digging out some old football games!
I'm sure that will continue this weekend, but in terms of modern games, I'll definitely be dipping back into Knockout City. I've only had a chance to play about an hour of it so far, but I can already see that it's definitely my type of game, and with a few more hours of practice I'll hopefully be a bit better at it! Fingers crossed.
Have a good weekend, everyone!

I'm on such a Sonic hype after this week's announcements so I'm playing the severely underrated Sonic Forces. I know, I know, "it's terrible" - I disagree. I'm having an absolute blast on it, and it's invoking memories of Sonic Generations, which I herald as being the greatest game in the franchise. I may just dip my feet into Sonic Mania a bit, too.
Additionally, I'm still ploughing away at Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Honestly, I'm struggling to get through the first game. It feels dated in so many aspects, not just its vehicle controls. I'm eager to get through it and onto the second game pretty quickly, but it's a bit of a struggle. Still, it's been great to fuel some nostalgic childhood memories. With that and Sonic, I feel like a kid again.
Have a great extended weekend, everyone!

Picked up Sonic Mania in the sale and I'm also eyeing up Far Cry 5 and Vanquish. I might give Maneater a go this evening, too.
What I'm not playing is MechWarrior 5. I can't read any of the text (what I assume is ammo counters) in the bottom right of the screen; it's way too small and I couldn't see any way to change it. Games still have a way to go with accessibility options.
Switch - Continuing my Miitopia playthrough!
PS4 - GTA Online with friends!
PC - Hypnospace Outlaw!
Have a good weekend everyone.
Knock Out City and maybe some Sunset Overdrive
Will be mostly playing Yakuza 6 on PS4 as that game is absolutely devouring all my free time right now. It's so good and I'm close to the end of the game now after having played it for 25 hours. I think I've got about 10 hours of content left including substories so I should still be able to enjoy it for another week!
Weekly session on Sea of Thieves with my brother and niece. A spot of Warzone with the lads and after all these years of being a Final Fantasy fan I've finally started X/X2 (never owned a PS) but I'm struggling with the absolutely horrific voice acting.
I've finally started Assassin's Creed Valhalla. I bought it day one with my Series X, but for a reason unknown even to me, it did find itself in my backlog right from the start.
But it's not a bad thing, cause the game has been heavily updated, since.
And I'm discovering it right now, for the very first time. Being away from the Assassin's franchise since an eternity (since the second episode, in fact).
And Oh. My. Gosh. I am litterally blown away by HOW BEAUTIFULL and engaging this game is. It's a masterpiece, in my opinion. A true one. I'm playing female Heavor and what a splendid character, so beautifully written and interpretated.
After trying both modes, I've decided to go the "quality" way, and yes, that means 30 fps. But it's not necessarily a bad thing : it really help the game to shape a cinematographic style that I particulary like. The 60 fps is really great, too, but I really feel we loose something here - I don't know what - about the general beauty of the game, something about the lighting, the weather effects... I don't know.
But yeah. What a game. How can I have taken so much time to get into it ?
Game & Watch Gallery 2 (GBC) - Mostly playing Vermin, may also play Chef.
Minecraft: Story Mode (Windows 10) - After finishing Guardians of the Galaxy, I decided to play this again. Starting on Episode 1.
Lines: The Game (Windows Phone) - Still making decent progress on this.
Forza horizon (xbox 360)
Lego Marvel superheroes
Project cars 3
Gears of war ultimate edition
I had an email a few days ago offering me the chance to play CoD Cold War for free over the weekend. I’ve downloaded it (all 185gb!!!) so will give it a go, but it will more than likely be deleted come Monday. Also playing Knockout City, Biomutant, AC Valhalla, WRC9, and chilling out on PGA Tour 2K21.
Xbox Series S - Yakuza 6 all weekend. Im hooked on the story.
Nintendo Switch - Nothing
Ps4 - Nothing
Recently completed: Gears 4 campaign.
@VenomousAlbino not missing anything. Mech5 is pretty terrible.
More of Mass Effect and then I will try out Knockout City. I don't really play much in the way of multiplayer games anymore, but I still want to give it a shot and see what all the fuss is about.
@Bobobiwan You know, it's absolutely delightful to hear how passionate you are about the game because I feel the same way about the recent AC games. I've spent over 120 hours playing through AC Odyssey and its DLCs and it's the best AC game I've played so far as well as one of the best games I've played of all time. I have both Origins and Valhalla in my backlog and I can't wait to start up one of them.
The appeal of these games to me is that you can get lost in these huge, expansive worlds and find yourself doing all kinds of things, including engaging side quests. There are many interesting characters and subplots happening everywhere on the map. It's kinda like when you were a kid and you just wanted to get lost in a world forever. Technology has advanced so much that you can actually do that with games like these, so even though people complain that these games are "too long", I still want them to co-exist along with other kinds of games. Because games like these are like your imagination as a kid coming to life, they're an absolute joy to experience!
I'm playing Zelda Breath Of The Wild, I've got over 20 hours in this game and i feel like i barely scratched the surface. This game is an absolute masterpiece..
Working through the weekend again. I did get the chance to boot up Village though the night before last and use 5 pipe bombs and 40 handgun bullets killing the big hammer ( or is it and axe?) wielding zombie 🧟♂️ close to House Beneviento. That was a good time....no achievement popped though. I still have the save prior to killing it intact, so I may go back and kill him again to get the treasure cheevo to pop. Other than that and work I’m on the last season of The Man In The High Castle....such a good series. It’s inspired me to get the book and read through it.
Hopefully I’ll be eating some good food this weekend too. And finishing up Village, if I can get away from work long enough and with enough energy left to do so!
@LtSarge Exactly what I thought : I really like the feeling of being lost in this beautifull and fascinating world.
And this is pretty huge, for me, cause with the kind of life I have now (which means : work and family), I have very little time to play. And sometimes I'm even wondering "maybe I just don't like to play anymore, or not as much as I did when I was younger".
And this game - which should totally discourage me by its lenght - brought me back my enthousiasm about gaming, in general. Now, I make time to play it. Because I want to.
It reminds me when I was a kid, lost in the worlds of Zelda III or Final Fantasy VI. I felt the same some years ago when playing Zelda BotW, too.
And now, this one. This Valhalla. It's honestly one of the most beautifull games I've ever seen. And I'm feeling that I'm gonna play it for a very, very long time.
(PS : so now I want to try Odyssey, too ! But after this one !)
Bought Dirt 4 in the online sale. So much better than 5. Also downloaded Control which seems pretty cool.
This week I have taken a break from Mass Effect on XBSX to focus on Ghost of Tsushima on PS5, actually.
@Link41x your update is the one I look forward to each week haha
I'm enjoying BioMutant atm, though I did mute the narrator. I just didn't dig it. The rest of the cons I've seen reviews bring up? I'm not seeing them to be honest - I'm enjoying exploration, combat and crafting - but that dude just rubbed me the wrong way. It's a pretty whimsical thing to have a storybook-style narrator like that, or a nature documentary-esque tone, but this game doesn't benefit from it. It's not a fairy tale, and it's weird to paste a Richard Attenborough feel on top of everything too in my opinion. That's the only thing that really was getting to me so far, but I'm sure I'll get annoyed by this or that later on. Right now though, I'm getting through it slowly because, dammit, I'm a sucker for photo modes in pretty games like this
Besides that, still Dragon Quest Buildin' and Super Bomberman R Online'ing. Man, SBRO is freakin' addictive... it's gotten in the way of my playing more Knockout City.
Anyway, good gaming everyone.
After starting work again this week, I have almost zero free time.. I used to stay up late to game at night and take a nap the next day if I needed to, but now that I have to wake up early again, I just can't find the time to get my game on. In addition to RE Village I'm trying to finish up Ghost of a Tale which I'm guessing I'm about 3/4 of the way through now. I'm really loving this game, but the quest requirements are a little on the obtuse side, so I'm finding myself looking up hints just so I can make at least a little progress in the 30 minutes I get to game every other day. Honestly its kind-of killing a bit of the joy of discovery, but that's better than wandering around trying to remember what I was doing and figure out what to do next in the limited amount of time I get to game.. Obviously this is a relatively minor, insignificant, and petty first-world problem to say the least, but that doesn't mean it's not sucking a little life out of me anyway. It just sucks that making more money also means I have less time to enjoy the things I end up spending that extra money on.. Oh well.. Maybe I'll buy a better car.. to drive to work in.. Yay. 😑
Not sure about anyone else but after finishing a game I normally have to have a little break before getting into something else.
So anyway, immortals fenyx rising is the one I've gone for, love it, really is comfort gaming at its finest. I guess the writing is a bit Marmite but I love the narration by zeus !
@Tothington91 Well thanks!
