Well, here's something you probably weren't expecting to hear today - work on the next entry in the TimeSplitters series will commence in the coming months.
Yes, Deep Silver has announced the formation - or should we say, reformation, of Free Radical Design to bring the "much-loved" TimeSplitters IP back to life. The developer will be situated in the UK's Nottingham area.
Key original members of Free Radical Design including the founder's Steve Ellis and David Doak (also former Rare employees), will lead the charge. The studio will advertise positions in due course.
Here's what Steve (the studio's development director) had to say about the return of TimeSplitters:
“To finally be able to confirm that the studio has been formed and that we have a plan for the next TimeSplitters game is incredible. While we cannot tell you anything more at the moment, we look forward to sharing information in the future.”
So, there you go - TimeSplitters is back! Are you looking forward to seeing what these industry veterans come up with? Leave a comment down below.

I look forward to smashing out kills as a duck, gingerbread man or giant moose.
Yes! So excited for this!
In my opinion timesplitters really wasn't a great game, even back in the day. Timesplitters is remembered fondly as a better game than it actually was.
They should remaster Time Splitters 2 to get people hyped for the new one...
Great news. This is my kind of FPS and up their with my favourites along the likes of Half Life, Bioshock and Wolfenstein. Extremely controversial but I'm more interested in this than the next Halo, personally.
Would love it but I’ll believe it when I see it...
Colour me invested and interested, but wary (like any good Gen Xr )
Hope they won't ruin the pure-mad-fun action. Let's go!
@StonyKL all though I'm extremely exited for the next Halo game. i believe I'd be just as exited for a new half life IP if one were to come to Xbox
i for one cant wait for the release of the new timesplitters sequel now if they could just remake max Payne 3
@phoenix1 Releasing a new Half Life would be next level!! I pray it comes to Series X or if it was PC exclusive I'd have to sell my Series X and use the money to get a top end PC!
@Sakai Sorry but no, 2 and 3 were fantastic, and still hold up today gameplay wise. Especially compared to most modern FPS titles, which are garbage.
