We're going to be honest, we're not totally convinced on this rumour, but it's so crazy it might just be true. In the sea of Starfield rumours which consistently seem to be making their rounds, today's seems to indicate that Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise could be making an appearance in the game.
These claims come various "insiders" on Reddit, who say that Cruise was approached by Bethesda to have a starring role in the upcoming space RPG. This all stems back to a tweet from 2018, in which Bethesda reached out to Cruise on Twitter, asking if he would want to get a "head start" on their next project, crediting his work on the 2013 sci-fi film, Oblivion.
Now, there's very little proof on this claims so far, but the tweet from 2018 is extremely interesting. It could just have been a bit of playful banter, not long after the initial announcement of Starfield, but then again, the gaming industry isn't shy from bringing in Hollywood A-listers to bolster their product. Bethesda also has been known for bringing in voice talent, such as Liam Neeson for Fallout 3 and Patrick Stewart for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
Just take a look at Cyberpunk 2077. The game was a highlight of Xbox's 2019 E3 conference after Keanu Reeves was not only revealed for the title, but walked on stage to announce his involvement. Could we see a similar moment during this year's E3 presentation? While we won't have the crowd reaction if we do, no doubt the internet will explode if these rumours come to fruition.

No. The beauty of games is the characters are only limited by the creators imagination, so why use real life actors?
Are Bethesda huge fans of Scientology aswell?
@robe if he's voicing a role, it doesn't necessarily mean the character he's playing has to resemble him in any way. If that were the case, you'd see Nolan North's face every day for the rest of your life.
Also, I'm not associated with actors, actresses, film-makers or the film industry in any way, shape or form, and even I'm offended by your essentially referring to voice actors as not real actors. 😆
@VenomousAlbino fair comment. But voice actors are a special breed of actor, similar to fashion models vs hand models.
Seriously though I did consider voice acting but the PureXBOX questions specifically said 'see' so I decided to go with that. Voice acting in games is absolutely essential, a decent voice actor can really bring a character to life.
That would be an unbelievably big flex and a huge step towards having more A list actors in games.
Not sure if that is a good thing or not
Tom Cruise in a AAA game, with a proper character to interpret, would be an awesome thing. I'm such fan of his work. And it's notorious he's a sci-fi fan...
So it can be possible. Hopefully, this is some kind of E3 leak, like something that will be confirmed next month !
I can't stand celebrity worship. I hate how films have to have "big name" actors to draw views. Cult or organic shows that become movies dispose of the common familiar actors that define the characters and get "big names" just because of celebrity worship..... It sucks, but it's an unfortunate part of Hollywood that you just accept (and ignore the fact that films exist at all because it really sucks the joy out of it.) I really don't want games to go down the celebrity route.
Except for Cyberpunk. With the way that went, Keanu's face is the only thing redeeming it. But Keanu's a meme...it works.
I would not touch this game with a 10 foot pole if that nut job makes money from it.
It's probably too late one way or another, but after Cyberpunk this kind of thing may not go over well. People equate a trendy celeb with a half-baked game, it's the new FMV game. This will probably turn people off.
