The moment many Xbox fans have been waiting for has finally arrived - yes, Psychonauts is now available to Game Pass subscribers on Xbox Series X|S and PC.
If you've not played this game before, now is a great time to check out Double Fine's classic platformer. It was originally released in 2005 and was available on the original Xbox. In addition to Game Pass, you can also obviously play this title via Backwards Compatibility.
Once again, this title is well worth a look, considering the release of Psychonauts 2 will be arriving later this year. We also recently got a look at some new 4K shots of the game, and pre-loads went up early.

I'm all for this. Missed out on it back in the day. Time to see what all the hype is about.
An absolute classic
Is it in 60 FPS?
Never played it, I'll take a look though to see what all the fuss is about.
@Lajt No, it's a backward compatible game from OG Xbox with no FPS boost. And it was developed in an era where gamers cared more about the content of video games rather than being obsessed with running everything on 8K/120fps !
@InterceptorAlpha I'm the same. Never played it back in the day so really looking forward to having a go now 😁
@Alan_Payne I know this game, played it on PC long time ago around its premiere, and on PS2 few years ago, never finished though. I asked because there are some og Xbox games with boosts on One X or Series X and wanted to know if it is one of them.
Like others, I've never played this, so this is obviously very welcome.
@Alan_Payne no it wasn't. It was developed during a time where consoles still couldn't compete with PCs so what you got was what you got. They could barely run 480i (640x480i) while PCs, mine included were putting out the likes 1280x1024p, 1600x1200p, and 2048x1536p
Hell, by 2007, while consoles were still sub 720p most of the time, we had 2560x1600p.
All the while fps was just as important as it was today. Console exclusive players just had literally zero access to it.
@InterceptorAlpha One thing to note; the first hour or so isn't great at all! But once past that it's still one of the most memorable games I've ever played. Especially the twisting suburbs level!
