Welcome to another weekend! It's admittedly been a very quiet week in the world of Xbox, but if you're looking for some new stuff to check out, we've got a couple of new Xbox Game Pass and Games with Gold titles, one Free Play Days addition, various new touch control games on Xbox Cloud Gaming, and the usual weekly sales.
Here's what we’re jumping into over the weekend:

Despite being a big NHL fan, I didn't pick up NHL 21 back at launch last year, so I'm really loving its recent inclusion into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate via EA Play. To be honest it's pretty much the same as NHL 20 in many respects, but I'm enjoying the improved Be a Pro mode, which has been quite substantially revamped.
I'm back on a Forza Horizon 4 kick at the moment as well. Not for any reason, really - I used the game to complete a Microsoft Rewards task recently, and ended up spending hours with it again just cruising the streets and taking part in some races. It's the perfect game to dip in-and-out of, and it's so fluid to play on Xbox Series X.
Finally, I definitely want to try Rain On Your Parade, which joined Xbox Game Pass earlier this week. It looks a really fun little indie title, and I love that it has levels based on the likes of Metal Gear Solid and The Office!
Have a good weekend, folks.

After seeing all that juicy Resident Evil Village gameplay earlier this week, I’m going to be replaying Resident Evil 7. I’ve been slowly becoming a huge fan of the series these past few years, and it all kickstarted with this entry. I haven’t played it since its release, so I’ve got a ton of DLC to do, but I’m also looking forward to reliving the story ahead of the events in the next game.
Alongside this I’m also absolutely engrossed with Hollow Knight. The world has opened up massively now, with tons of options for me to explore. The combat is also getting a lot more challenging, and a few bosses have destroyed me a fair few times - but it’s so fun! Can’t believe I didn’t play this sooner.
Finally, Rain on Your Parade launched on Xbox Game Pass this week and I’ve been having a ton of fun with it. It’s filled with so many cool references, and the gameplay itself slowly evolves over time into something more and more enjoyable. Been a nice, little surprise on Game Pass and I can’t wait to try out more.
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hello. I’m a professional ice hockey player now. Yep, turns out I’m something of a natural, especially when a vicious bit of fisticuffs breaks out, I’m right in there, smashing all the buttons and making mincemeat out of any opponent who dares to pull off their facemask and gloves to face me down. Smashing all the buttons? Oh, oh yes, sorry, I’m not talking about real life ice hockey, haha, lord no, I’m much too delicate and aware of my own mortality to get involved in any of that rough stuff, I meant NHL 21 on Game Pass, I’m addicted to it, you should download it, it’s great fun. Just don’t run into me in multiplayer or I’ll smash you up yeah.
I’ve also went and bought Mortal Shell Enhanced Edition this week, a little bit of gentle Soulslike murder action to relax in between blood-soaked hockey matches, and it’s excellent stuff. It cribs heavily from its inspiration, for sure, but its clever shell system, where you inhabit the bodies of fallen fighters that you find around the world, has got just enough about it to give the whole thing its own unique feel. It also looks and sounds fantastic in this slick new 60fps version and is well worth a punt if you’re looking for a proper challenge.
Have a good time, whatever you’re up to or playing over the next couple of days, and stay safe out there.

On PS4 I'll be wrapping up Yakuza 5 after having played it for over a month now and for roughly 60 hours in total. This game has been so freaking long compared to other Yakuza games and a lot of it has honestly felt like padding. It's a good game overall, but it's definitely not a good "Yakuza" game since most of the stuff doesn't fit with the overall narrative.
On 360 I'll be playing more GTA III and I'm absolutely loving this game so far. Can't believe I've never played the older GTA titles. I have five games (the three PS2/Xbox titles and the two Stories games) to go through now!
I'm taking a break from my Halo:MCC playthrough (so far I've played through Reach and Combat Evolved) and I'm enjoying Control: UE immensely. Have a nice weekend everyone!
Switch - Mario 3D All-Stars! The nostalgia.
PS4 - Weekly GTA Online session with friends! And perhaps Borderlands 3.
PC - Garry's Mod!
Have a good weekend, everyone.
I am playing multiple games on multiple systems this weekend.
@LtSarge i’m going through Yakuza 5 on Series X at the moment and i’m only on Part 2 Chapter 3 but I can already tell this is going to be longer than the rest. At least it plays better than 3 though. I want to wrap up 5 and 6 then get to Octopath Traveler.
And oh man Vice City is incredible so enjoy that when you get to it. Wonder how it is playing it in 2021 though.
As for me it’s Yakuza 5/Ace Attorney Trilogy on Xbox. And Ys VIII on Switch which I bought and so now thus will come to Gamepass.
Feel like I'm jumping between lots of different titles right now. At the moment Yakuza Like a Dragon and Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater are my focus. Both absolutely amazing!
Played Rain on my Parade last night with the wife and enjoyed it, might be playing it some more. Hoping she leaves me alone at some point so I can finish Doom Eternal and get started in Alam Wake
I am currently playing Wreckfest and Forza Horizon 1
I'm playing Life is Strange Episode 5 today and once that's done then I'm continuing Trials Rising.
@K1LLEGAL Yeah, Yakuza 5 is definitely one of the largest games in the series, probably even more so than Yakuza 0. Not to deter you or anything, but that chapter you are on now was easily the worst one in the game. It just didn't make sense in the overall narrative. It's at this point where most people start getting mixed feelings about the game and you'll probably see why.
I'm really excited to play through Vice City since I've heard so many great things about that game. If it's anything like GTA III, I'm expecting that the only issue will be the lack of camera control because there is none in GTA III. Which is fine most of the times but during some situations it can be annoying if you don't have control over the camera. Still, I don't think that will make me dislike the game or anything because I'm still enjoying GTA III despite this.
@LtSarge Yea camera issues and falling in the water lol. I played it on PS4 maybe 5 years ago and it was alright actually to be fair.
And yes I can see that with this chapter of Yakuza. It’s quite far removed. 0 was long but it was so twisty and for me it was fresh so that helped. This year alone i’ve gone through 3 and 4 so feeling a slight burnout. Just want to go through the story though as I do love it.
I’m enjoying my play through of Halo 3 at the moment! Have a great weekend everyone!
Last night my friends and I played Outriders until we got sick of the connection issues, which plagued almost the entire experience. We topped off the night with couple rounds of Rocket League.
I'm about 2/3 of the way through Shadow Warrior Classic Redux and still finding it to be a bit of silly fun in short bursts. Speaking of silly shooters, I just started up The Operative - No One Lives Forever and played the first couple missions - that game had me laughing out loud more than once already. The objective based mission structure is pretty interesting too, and I'm looking forward to getting deeper into the game over the rest of the weekend.
Gonna be playing some MCC and Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated.
Have a chill weekend everyone!
Assassin's Creed Valhalla and then Forza Horizon 4 (shockingly for the first time) if I have time (and to complete a Microsoft Rewards thing).
PS5 - Assasins Creed Valhalla and trying to finish Astro
Series X - more FH4 and Yakuza 7
Switch - Mario 3D world
Starting to get into Watch Dogs Legion, and maybe grind a little in The Surge (spring sale was awesome)
Been forcing myself to get through Cyberpunk this until I just thought 'what the hell am I doing' haha. So left it and about to start Resi 7 this evening
I'm playing Outriders, I finished the main game last week and now i'm working on to do every side quest in the game and level up my character.. I'm also playing Stardew Valley on Switch..
Pokémon Blue Version (Game Boy) - I finally made it to Victory Road, hoping to catch Moltres before facing the Elite Four.
Angry Birds Stella (Windows Phone) - Stuck on the last level.
Gerbil Physics (Windows Phone) - Plodding along with this as well.
Thought i would dip my toes into the Yakuza series. So I'm starting off with Yakuza 0 as heard its the best place to start. Also playing Rain on my Parade with the kids. Good fun so far.
Gear ultimate edition
Monster Hunter Rise. Insanely fun little game.
I'm maybe gonna download skyrim.
After playing Outriders last week or two, this weekend have played the much more easy-going Rain on Your Parade, and latest Darkside Detective, games as both quite undemanding and fun!
I'm going heavy on MLB early access so I can practice and not get absolutely annihilated by my brother and friends when they get it on Tuesday lol
Also for some reason me and the fiance are back on State of Decay 2 again, doing a run thru Providence Ridge. Not sure why, no major update lately, just wanted a co op game and that seemed to stand out. It's been fun coming back to after only really playing it at release on two One S systems. Playing between Series X and S now it's so much smoother and performs so much better.
I gave Truck Racing Championship a try. Despite crashing into everything like most racing games, i enjoy the concept.
Rain on your Parade i been playing more and yeah its really fun.
