This one certainly went under the radar! 2K has quietly revealed that PGA Tour 2K21 has received a bump to 60 frames per-second on Xbox Series X and S, and the option is available on Xbox One X as well.
2K announced the news very subtly in an official post on the 2K forums:
"Just a heads up that with today's content update, we've added 60fps for the Xbox and PlayStation versions. From the main menu just go to Settings, then Graphics. There you'll see a VSync option that by default is 30 Hz. Click on it and you'll now find 60 Hz. "
From the reports we've seen so far, the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions appear to run with no issues at all at 60FPS (one player even suggested "it feels like a new game entirely"), but the Xbox One X seems to be struggling with it, causing "rampant judder, shimmering and some frame skipping". Something to keep in mind!
Have you tried out the 60fps update for PGA Tour 2K21 on Xbox Series X or S yet? Let us know below.

This wonderful news! Makes the game feel soooo much better! Series X is getting so much love and support!
That is great news. Only bad thing is I don’t have the Series X.. yet..
It’s a shame they lock content that has been free and was earned in previous titles behind a Battle
Pass now. EA gonna EA!
Damn, I said only yesterday that I would be inclined to get this game sooner rather than later if it got a boost on Series X. Guess now I have no choice 😂
@themightyant what's EA got to do with it?
@DrEagleG what's EA but a second hand emotion?
I haven’t played a golf game in ages, but am kinda curious about this one now 2K have taken over from EA. Can anyone tell me what system is used to hit the ball? Is it the old press once to start the bar, press second time to stop it in sweet spot? Or do you use the (left?) stick by pressing down then up (obviously replicating swinging back then forward).
@Nightcrawler71 You push the stick down and then up with a smooth and straight motion. With that it simulates a golf stroke quite well (at least as good as you can with a controller). I do not miss the old methodes!
@Sveakungen ok, thanks 👍
@DrEagleG Fair point! My mistake, I hadn’t realised EA had lost the PGA license after 25+ years. (Still have PGA tour on Megadrive/Genesis) from the early 90s)
That partly makes me want to play it more to see what another studio can do. It had got tired, and uninspired under EA (I still enjoyed it)
On the other hand here’s a studio going further than EA went in terms of micro-transactions and monetisation. Don’t want to support that at all. I’ll vote with my wallet.
@themightyant this game has no reason to buy anything have had game since launch and have yet to buy a single item with real money….try it out the micro transactions as you put them are more about courses..
@Blessed_Koz Thanks that's good to hear. I had read elsewhere the Clubhouse Pass is effectively a Battle Pass, which unlocks cosmetics and gear, something you used to unlock naturally in EA PGA.
@themightyant the clubhouse pass is dumb i never even use it you get some free *****, and yes they locked some items behind that paywall, but i have not seen a need to buy it as I’m competently playing the game without the stuff in there.. so in that respect i see what your saying but again i have yet to buy the second season never bought first season hell i forgot that was even there.
@themightyant It's also worth noting that (despite a slightly convoluted history) this is effectively the 4th game in the "The Golf Club" series... the devs have been doing golf games for at least 7 years, picked up the PGA tour licence back in 2019 and publisher 2K then bought the studio and licence and renamed the series with this edition. This means they've refined their swing control system (with this version having many more beginner friendly options) plus the course editor brings 100s of free courses (from this and previous iterations) designed by players, some of which are pretty accurate famous club knock offs, with a fairly effective search / rating system.
It's the most polished edition yet and the main criticism (outside the odd and completely optional cosmetic season pass system - thanks 2K) is that the PGA licenced players are limited in number and relegated to names on the leader board and highlight cut scenes mainly.
@nicols that’s interesting. Wasn’t aware the Golf Club had become PGA 2K21. Thanks
@themightyant it is but it feels way more refined then even the last entry before this….
@Blessed_Koz and the most accessible in terms of how you can adjust difficulty of the opposition, the course conditions and the control scheme itself.
The Justin Thomas Golf Simulator. Great game. They've just made him too good in the game as he's the cover star
