If you thought the roguelike genre had ran out of ideas, then get ready for a new one, as Insurmountable from developer ByteRockers' Games brings mountain climbing into the equation. It's expected to hit Xbox later this year.
As you scale various mountains, you'll have to scavenge resources and deal with a variety of random generated situations that could put your chances of survival down to zero. As you become stronger through an in-depth skill system, you'll be able to tackle more dangerous climbs.
"Insurmountable is an adventure roguelike with permadeath, in which the player has to overcome huge mountains. Thanks to the procedurally created environment, no two climbs are the same. Make sure that your climber stays alive by always making sure that your vital values don't get into the critical range. This task is made more difficult by a dynamic weather system, day/night changes and a multitude of randomly generated events, where you never know in advance how they will end. Your decisions matter....every single one. Because anyone could be your last."
This is most certainly a unique take on an age old formula, and one that is sure to have our hearts racing. The idea of scaling huge mountains is daunting enough, but adding in permadeath dials up the tension. Bring it on.

How long before a battle royale mode? Sounds interesting, "cut a player's cord" dammit I want it.
Hmm... This has me wanting a AAA first person mountain climbing simulator now.
