@Medic_Alert Don’t worry, Deathloop and Ghost Wire: Tokyo will come and stay on gamepass forever. It’s just a matter of time now.
Glad i own the witcher 3 & bloodstained. The rest i'm not too bothered about.
@Senua
In one year. Deathloop PlayStation exclusive runs out May 21, 2022
I've been meaning to get to both Bloodstained and The Witcher 3 eventually. Thankfully I already have a copy of Bloodstained for the Switch, and The Witcher 3 seems to be on sale constantly, so I should just bite the bullet and buy it.
And this is why I BOUGHT The Witcher 3 when it was on sale a month ago. The GOTY edition was avalaible for 9 bucks.
So glad I “pay” for Game Pass with Microsoft Reward points. Costs nothing but a few minutes per game.
I don't really understand people who say that they will never subscribe to Game Pass again because games leave eventually. Why can't you buy games and be subscribed to GP one month at a time? That's how I do it, I got one month of GP in January, played through like a dozen games that had been recently added and now I'm playing through my physical games. In a couple of months when more games have been added, I'll get another month at that point as well. Flexibility is the answer here. Microsoft has 20+ studios working on first-party games, are you honestly telling me that you're not going to want to play any of those games through GP in the future? I sure want to because it's much cheaper to pay €10 for GP than a full €60 for the actual game.
Argh! I've just started Witcher 3 about 2 weeks ago! What are the chances!
My first experience of GPU and the first 'big' game I start playing I have no chance of getting through it. I know its against the 'house rules' to say anything remotely negative about GP but ARGH &%^$&£!!!
Yes I can buy the game - its not a massive price, but that wasn't why I bought a year subscription to GPU.
I'm guessing this isn't a common occurrence but just bit me the first month I've had an Xbox and GPU so just a bit of bad luck.
Do games come back on often? So I can try getting back into the game in the not too distant future? If so how long do they usually take to return?
Guess I'll have to start something else then and cross fingers it stays on.
Perhaps there is a long term scheduling of when games leave. Does anyone know?
EDIT: So this is a dilemma. Looks like its £24.99 on Xbox store and 20% off reduces to £20, but its £4.99 on PS store! I would definitely have bought this for £4.99 on Xbox store but feels a bit harsh to buy for £20 'on offer' for such an old game. Don't really want to start it again on PS5 either. Guess I'll wait for it to come back on GPU in the future and move onto something else. Haven't played Gear 5 before. Maybe thats next.
I've played through The Witcher 3 and liked it, but I don't consider it a masterpiece. By now I guess everybody who wanted to play it has played it. As for Game Pass, I'm subscribing even if I only play 3-4 games per month. I still get my money's worth and I've dodged a few bullets thanks to GP. For instance, I tried and didn't like Gears of War (too outdated, gameplaye gets stale quick, Marcus Fenix is more macho than Schwarzenegger in 'Commando') and Call of the Sea (too colourful for a quest for a lost husband, irritating protagonist- she acts like she's on holiday). This alone makes it worth it for me. Just my 3 cents.
Witcher 3 is the one I'm going to miss but it's on sale often enough and i got witcher 2 for under $5 a while ago. I'll play that first before looking into the witcher 3 in a future sale. Really enjoying Halo MCC and Titanfall at the moment so I'll be trying to finish other games i started (Fallen Order especially) before starting anything else just to be parked. I played Witcher 3 quickly for the quest last month and it seemed pretty good.
@Insightful Yeah sounds like its gets sold for under £5 now and again. Will probably wait for that then. Its not really my type of game but I really started getting into it properly so was gutted to see this article.
@StonyKL To be fair, Witcher 3 has been on Game Pass since the beginning of time essentially. Another thing is you can get the game really cheap now.
Glad I bought Witcher 3 when it was in a sale - still waiting for that next-gen upgrade.
@StonyKL I think The Witcher 3 is one of those games that goes on sale quite often. It may be £20 right now, but gets down lower during publisher sales, and other sales throughout the year.
Gears 5 is fantastic! Who knows, maybe after diving into a few other games on Game Pass, The WItcher 3 Complete Edition will be on sale for half of the current 'deal" price and you can scoop it up then.
Tinfoil hat thought... Witcher 3 making room for Cyberpunk?
I might give Bloodstained a try since I’ve been curious about it but ultimately I’m not too sad.
Hopefully with some big titles will be announced to take the place of these. These are some bigger titles leaving.
@Insightful Ha! Nice you've got your Series X!
Titanfall 2 I'd recommend. Started Jedi Fallen Order and although its pretty decent I struggled to get into it.
You recommended Quantum Break I think. Now I've stopped The Witcher until its on sale I'm torn between that and FF7R which just came from PS+ today. Actually, probably should start Quantum Break just in case it leaves GP
Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy Game Pass and have no plans to unsubcribe — at the end of the day it's a great service and a great deal — but the service is somewhat lacking in relatively modern, open-world action RPGs, such as The Witcher 3. There are still a few other games to fill that genre, of course, but it's one of the genres the Game Pass team needs to work on a little more.
@StonyKL It does suck when things leave GP. It’s hard to plan what games to play when if you’re using a service like GP that shuffles games fairly regularly. I’d say a good idea is to keep in mind most games might stay a year (if it’s not a Xbox exclusive) some games like GTA5 were on for maybe 2 months. I don’t think I’ve seen a game come back to GP once it’s left ( I’ve been a subscriber for about a year and a half).
@StonyKL: Before you play Quantum Break — which is a bit more likely to remain on Game Pass for the long run as it's an Xbox exclusive — you should play Control. It's a fantastic game, and its only real downfall is that it will leave you wanting more.
@101Force thanks for the recommendation. Have Control from PS+ so no rush for that one but definitely need to play at some point as it keeps getting mentioned as a must play game.
@Insightful too late just started it and its already gripped me. Btw you mentioned quick resume earlier. Don't get too excited for that yet. It works about 50% of the time for me. When it works its amazing, when it doesn't you curse why you didn't save just in case (I'm looking at you Jedi Fallen Order!). One for the future though definitely.
@Mamabear thanks for the info. Will have to assume games won't come back then.
@GamingFan4Lyf Yep counting on it
@StonyKL @Insightful when I first started Jedi Fallen Order I was pretty underwhelmed- the game was beautiful, the Star Wars universe was well crafted, and the inklings of a story were there but I had a hard time with the combat and it was frustrating to keep losing without a clear idea as to why or how to get better. So for me the combat system was pulling the whole experience down. I started on “normal mode” and was able to get through a little but decided to try a lower difficulty to at least try to get the flow of combat down. That made all the difference for me- I could get a grasp on the combat, each hit was not so punishing, and I was actually able to get some experience points to start getting skills which are so necessary to do well in combat. Also without that added frustration I was able to enjoy the story/ everything else more. I did end up going back up in difficulty once everything else was going more smoothly and it’s still difficult but more manageable.
@Insightful @StonyKL I had Gears 5 Hive Busters DLC campaign run in a Quick Resume state. I tried going back to it and it crashed the game - when I tried to go back to playing it, I was getting an error that the DLC wasn't installed. If I tried to manually install the DLC again from game menus, I got an error.
Curiously, I noticed my Gears 5 was on the Internal SSD and the DLC was on the External. I tried moving the DLC from External or Internal and it did nothing.
Needless to say, I had to uninstall the game and reinstall everything. Good thing I get around 500 Mbps download speeds on Series X. Thank goodness for Cloud Saves.
@Insightful I am glad it exists, too. I just don't use it right now.
Maybe one day, when it's more stable. This is probably the most extreme case of Quick Resume failure. Everything else has just been a restart.
I mean, with how quickly the Series X|S load up games, loading a game from scratch isn't all that painful, anyways.
@alpha5099 I snagged Witcher 3 GOTY edition during Black Friday sale for like $15. It's funny that I pre-ordered it on PS4 years ago, started it twice on PlayStation but never got very far. Now I have about 80 hours into on Xbox and realize I'm barely checking out GP titles.
@Insightful I imagine I wouldn’t get very far at all in Dark Souls 😅. I’ve heard terrible things about the difficulty.
@Mamabear Yeah those games are sort of tailored for a masochistic gamer audience, the kind of people who enjoy punishing difficulty in a game with very dark themes. Games like that have never been my thing.
This is what i hate about gamepass
Time to try out Bloodstained, then!
