Disappointed that it'll be compromised to fit on last gen
Glad its also on Xbox 1. No need for the Series X|S yet
I'm just happy it's got a release date!
@Menchi Yeah because so many people own next gen consoles right now
It's literally the same deal as the PS4/Xbox One launch window. It also would've been really stupid to leave out older gen players because the PS4 and Xbox One still have massive install bases and nobody can buy a PS5/Series X right now without someone botting a console and selling it for overinflated prices
@TheFrenchiestFry So much corporate apologising there to defend getting an inferior game.
Nice, glad to see the support for my One X is still alive! It's a great console to have right now, isn't even that old and it's a nice way for me to wait out the iffy early days of the Series X.
@Menchi How is this being a corporate shill exactly? It's literally just logical to continue to support existing players on older platforms with active and thriving install bases so it means more people can play the game and the publishers profit way more. They're only going to start doing next-gen only games once they're confident almost everyone has switched over to the new hardware. That's just how this works. Nothing defensive towards corporate entities or whatever bullsh*t you're talking about
If you were one of the 96% who don't have a next gen console yet you'd probably understand
The main bottlenecks of last gen are the hard drive and CPU single-thread performance. Since the new consoles have 8 cores too, multi-threading while hard is good for optimizing performance. Resident Evil is not an open-world game so I doubt it will stress the hard drive. I doubt any compromises were made, but I've been on the internet long enough to know some people just get a kick out of making a scene. It's the only way you can experience what it's like to be a reality TV star without being annoyed by the paparazzi.
Having issues getting myself to play 7 further so I'm likely not touching this with a 10 foot zombie ladies pole!
Oh noes, da game will be held back now!
Excuse me while I go outside and pout.
Seriously, its cool this game will come to all gens. I got a Series X, but not everyone has, and it would be crazy for Capcom's bottom line to not release the game in as many platforms as possible. I'm sure they will have the game also run on PCs that dont have an SSD.
Most games can technically run on last gen with lower res, 30fps, and possibly shorter line of sight.
Look forward for more people to show CD Projekt Red how to properly support multiple platforms and generations.
Nearly every single game will be on last generation as well, it’s the gaming world that is created now and I have decided to accept this, even though I would have liked to see super power house games just for the new generation.
Last generation has millions of consoles out there and potential sales of games that have cost millions and millions to produce.
Additionally I have come to pass that graphics wise etc we are starting to see diminishing returns
There is not the massive leap say from to 2d to 3d or 480p to 1080p like other generations.
Yes this new generation can bring new stuff to games, but it won’t blow you out the water like decades ago console generations.
I don't mind it being available on inferior consoles, but if I want to play a good horror/thriller in FPS I'll play Condemned (actually, it's already installed on my Series X). Resident Evil 7 had little to do with Resident Evil to me, even though I found the game enjoyable (save for the last part). This looks to be more of the same, so I'll pass.
Well, I have a Series X and I am glad that it is still going to be released on the Xbox One/PS4, there are too many gamers out there to ignore. I am sure Capcom don't want to only sell a handful of copies, not good business, and gaming is a business.
Also remember that we are in the crossover period of generations, it's perfectly normal to get cross gen releases.
The next Resi will be a this gen exclusive no doubt.
I actually don't think it will hold the game back, I would be more concerned that last gen will get a low resolution and poor framerate version, remember RE7 targeted 60fps. Regardless I would think Capcom will release a playable version for everyone, no CDPR shenanigans here.
Weird to see all these gamers simping over tall lady.
Definitely getting some Resi 4 vibes from this, which is a good thing. Not sure if May's the best time to be playing Resi, though. I'd rather be playing it in the darker months, with the lights off and the sound up.
