Ubisoft has delayed Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake until March 18, 2021, stating that "2020 was a year like no other".
In a translated statement by Gematsu, the developer believes "this is the right decision" to "deliver a game you enjoy". As a result, the game will no longer hit its intended release date of January 21, 2021, and instead release for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S backwards compatibility on March 18, 2021:
Greetings, Prince of Persia fans!
During our Ubisoft Forward digital conference, we proudly announced Prince’s return from Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake.
We are excited to be able to put this game in your hands again as we retell the story of Prince and Farah in the amazing 11th century Persia. However, 2020 was a year like no other. Today we would like to inform you that we need more time to complete the game. With that, the release date of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake has been moved to March 18, 2021. We believe this is the right decision to ensure we deliver a game you enjoy.
Thank you for your patience and continued support of the Prince of Persia, and we hope you remain safe and healthy during this holiday season.
Bearing in mind the challenges of 2020, it's perhaps unsurprising that the remake might need some more time in the oven. Given Ubisoft's past few weeks being crammed with titles such as Immortals Fenyx Rising, Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion, it's also no surprise the developer might shift some titles back - especially when some of the currently released products are in a faulty state.

Thats ok more time for Hitman 3 then
Maybe they’ll fix the visuals that nobody seemed to like?
Still baffled as to why this got a remake. I'd love to see the original Watch_Dogs remade to look like the infamous E3 demo.
