Dolby has announced that Dolby Atmos for Headphones is completely free to try on Xbox this weekend.
Accessible via the Dolby Access app on the Microsoft Store, Dolby Atmos for Headphones allows you to "hear stunning detail, precision, and realism in your games, movies, and shows with sound that flows all around you — even overhead and behind you."
It works with pretty much any headphones you might have at your disposal, although keep in mind that only certain games, movies and shows are supported - with the current highlight being the newly released Cyberpunk 2077.
"Every cyberpunk needs the latest tech to take on Night City. Unlock your sense of hearing and transport yourself into the world of Cyberpunk 2077 with the three-dimensional audio of Dolby Atmos.
Immerse yourself in a more intense gaming experience that brings pinpoint precision, crystal clarity and hair-raising realism to the megalopolis so you can get the full experience of Cyberpunk 2077 and build your legend on the streets of Night City."
If you want to purchase Dolby Atmos for Headphones permanently, it's available for £14.74 / $14.99.

Dolby Atmos in gaming is fantastic. I have been using it since the App launched. To get the most out of it though, you need to use a Proper Atoms setup of 5.1.4 or higher. Hearing is believing. Highly recommended
Shame turning Atmos on introduces a massive audio delay. I was hoping they’d fix that with Series X but nope. Happened with One X too.
Been using Atmos on and off since launch. Pretty much been the worst, modern, solution, to headphones surround sound imaginable.
@InterceptorAlpha really? I thought it was pretty good compared to windows sonic and dtsx. Though most games that have a built in headphone mix, i usually use that instead.
Thanks for the tip! Just installed it and will test it on Cyberpunk later today.
I tried the Dolby atoms app trial awhile back. Compared to windows sonic (which is free) I didn't notice much difference.
