Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age is coming to Xbox One and Xbox Game Pass on December 4th, but if you want to try it out before then, a free demo is now available on the Microsoft Store.
The game is an enhanced and expanded version of the original 2017 Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, and marks the first time the Dragon Quest series has appeared on a Microsoft platform.
In this demo, you'll get a "generous glimpse of the opening events in the epic adventure that awaits you", joining a young hero as he takes his first steps towards becoming the Luminary, a legendary hero destined to save Erdrea.
And better yet, any progress you make will carry over to the full game next month!
Embark upon an epic adventure as The Luminary: the chosen one in a world that vows to hunt him down. The Luminary and his unique band of loyal companions work together to survive an onslaught of ne’er-do-wells and overthrow the dark forces that plot to plunge the world of Erdrea into chaos. Explore the massive world of DRAGON QUEST and awaken your power in this can't-miss adventure!

I've had the game pass version installed for what feels like forever waiting on it to release.
If the demo is like the switch version it’s longer than many games
@Medic_Alert I never had any crashes with the demo on Switch and I am several hours into it.
For anybody on the fence about this game, don't be and just get it. It's a great game totally worth your time.
Waiting for the full game to release 😃 I'm not really a jrpg fan, but the artstyle is amazing and I could do with another game that's not heavy on violence (just finished Deliver Us the Moon and found no combat to be so refreshing).
Not that into JRPG's
Just started last night.
Nice chance of pace and lovely to go back to play a turn-based JRPG, a genre Xbox really lacks.
@Tasuki @Medic_Alert They patched the issue shortly afterwards.

I look forward to downloading this later this week. I wanted it on Switch where I'll have a better chance of finishing it, but... my budget is extra tight these days. I wish they included Xbox remote play to a Mac.
I'll try the demo beforehand and if I like it download the whole game when it launches in GamePass next month since progress carries over. My question though is will achievements automatically unlock upon playing the full game since I'd assume at least some of them will have their requirements met in around 10 hours of gameplay? (Heck that's longer than some complete games these days!)
Apparently this version has no HDR, but I’m going to assume that it should get added back thanks to “auto HDR”.
I know the enhanced consoles are 60fps, are the base ones still 30?
