Now that Wasteland 3 is out, Xbox developer InXile Entertainment is shifting its focus towards the next-generation.
Based on updates over the past six months, it appears the studio is currently working on an "ambitious" AAA action-RPG powered by Unreal Engine 5.
Studio head, Brian Fargo, has now shared a few more details about what exactly is going on behind the scenes at InXile at the moment. In a reply to a fan on Twitter, he mentioned how the team was working on "wonderful" new RPGs (although it's possible that he's referring to Wasteland 3 and its upcoming DLC as one of these), and noted how the second game was still in the early stages of its life.
Considering Brian's latest comments along with the news earlier this week about Microsoft acquiring ZeniMax Media (the parent company of Bethesda) for $7.5 billion, it seems the Xbox will be receiving a lot more RPG love in the future.
On a related note, InXile also rolled out Patch 1.1.1 for Wasteland 3. You can read more about it on the studio's website.

I could see it being a new game set in Numenera.
Inxile’s AAA is still way far away. I am more excited for updates on Avowed and Fable. Also it’s great to see Xbox still having great 1st party content in works even without relying on Bethesda.
@Senua
Exactly what I was going to say. Xbox is going to be the home of western RPGs going forward. 👍🏻
I love it! Oh how I like RPGs.
The only big RPG-maker outside of Microsoft umbrella is now CD Projekt.
@Royalblues In what sense? I don't think CD Projekt is up for sale anyway.
