Here's a bit of wholesome news to start your weekend! Xbox boss Phil Spencer has sent his congratulations to developer Naughty Dog on Twitter, following a post from vice president Neil Druckmann thanking the fans for their support with The Last of Us Part II.
As noted by our friends over at Push Square, the game is now officially Sony's fastest selling PlayStation 4 exclusive, having already amassed more than four million sales as of June 21.
As you can see above, Druckmann also sent back his thanks and shared his excitement for what Xbox Series X and Xbox Game Studios has in the pipeline. It's always nice to see Xbox and PlayStation brands cross over and share support for one another, and this is just the latest example!
What do you make of this? Have you played The Last of Us 2? Let us know in the comments.

Classy as always from Phil. Shame so many tribalistic ‘fans’ won’t learn from his example.
Yeah Phil has class. I think that's because he's a gamer at heart.
The game is amazing tho. Only people like those bigots demanding the storyline is rewritten hate on it because they can't handle the fact the lead character is a lesbian.
Edit: realised how that might come across. I'm not saying everyone who hates it is a bigot, just the whiners demanding changes and starting petitions and claiming they won't play it because its woke
Classy as always
Yep, so classy. Naughty Dog's excitement about what Xbox has in store was also a nice reply.
A truly amazing game and one I certainly won't forget for a very long time, now hopefully Xbox can start to bring us experiences of this quality next generation
@themightyant Yeah, I can't believe some people are still stuck in the console wars in 2020. Then they project that on to those of us that really don't give a damn.
@carlos82
Just what I was thinking, Phil is great and polite to the competition. But let’s start bringing to the competition, both Sony and Nintendo have very good examples of what Xbox has to do create sensational AAA And quality game’s and serious multi million sales.
I've moved on from the console wars a long time ago. I play what I play regardless of what system that happens to be on. I wish others would find joy in playing what makes them happy, no matter which platform they prefer.
Phil is pure class, as always. 👍🏻
We never hear anything complimentary about Xbox or Nintendo from that buffoon Jim Ryan. 🙄
@zane547
Jim Ryan also said that nobody likes to play old games (because his company can’t figure out backwards compatibility) & I believe he even ripped indie games years ago (correct me if I am wrong), & half of their PS5 “event” was indie titles. 😂
Plus, Phil is an actual gamer. I see him online playing games all the time. My kind of guy. 👍🏻
The guy I miss is Reggie from Nintendo. That guy was hilarious.
I wish more fans were as non-tribal. There are a few posters here that seem to be all-on-haters of Sony (been adopting a “click ignore” policy on them) but Push Square... can’t see the Phil Spencer or XBox name drop without infinite hate being directed on all directions. I’m not sure if it’s a Sony fan base thing, of just PushSquare base happening to have an disproportionate slice of that tribal commenting fan base.
PS4 has been waiting for a genuine exclusive of this calibre since it launched 7 years ago. Worst library of exclusive titles of any format, ever.
At least it got to finish on a high note before it replaces itself. Everybody.... look forward to “The Last of Us 2: Remastered” on PS5, this time next year and other such titles that warrants buying a PS5........?
Console wars will always be a thing, sadly. I'd be a more enjoyable hobby if everyone could accept/agree, that all consoles have their pros and cons.
I miss Kaz Hirai. Liked that guy. "Riiidge Raaacerrr".

@Tharsman Tribal... I couldn't have defined PushSquare better.
@zane547 house was also a suit. I remember him saying that they priced the psp go so high 'because we're sony', which is such breathtaking arrogance I don't know how his brain wasn't engaged before the mouth moved
@Shinobi1Kenoby I disagree. I'd say the PS4 line-up of exclusives is one of the strongest yet. Sony's studios have really excelled at developing rich and diverse single player focussed games this gen, some of which I'd argue are the definitive games of the generation, games like Uncharted 4, Horizon, God Of War and, for me personally, The Last Guardian. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed plenty of games on Xbox One over the years, but, aside form Forza Horizon, I don't think any of Microsoft's exclusives have been leading the way in their respective genres for quite some time. Xbox One hasn't had a generation defining game, whereas Sony have had several.
On topic, it's a well deserved congratulations to Naughty Dog for what is, as Phil says, a "really great game". It would be great too if prominent industry members would congratulate each other more often on a job well done.
@Shinobi1Kenoby How is the ps4 exclusive lineup worse than Xbox One?
@HammerKirby to be fair, they’re both as bad. The XBox just wins out for me as it wins every third party cross platform release comparison.
For me personally is has Conker’s Bad Fur day and the original Killer Instinct arcade release playable. An XBox is worth owning for that alone.
@TimG13 Sony releases are over-congratulated and over-paid to be congratulated by others.
Bloodborne - not worth a minute of your life.
Uncharted 4 - franchise peaked at 2 and was losing its way, becoming old half way through 3.
God of War peaked at 3.
Last guardian is marmite and I personally find it boring, I also hated Ico and shadow of the colossus.
There has not been a single definitive game released on PS4 except for last of us 2.
Across the board, for exclusivity, Sony and Microsoft will fail endlessly compared to Nintendo. There is way too high a volume of real quality exclusive titles on Nintendo formats. Sony and Microsoft just battle it out for who delivers the best platform for the third party games Nintendo never gets; which is a lot of games and a worthy market slice to own.. Every home needs a Nintendo; after that, it’s whichever platform is the better out of the two for delivering third party titles between Sony and Microsoft. This gen, that platform has been XBox One X, 10 times out of 10.
If Nintendo developed a platform that received every third party title that Sony and Microsoft got.... they would both be knackered. Fact.
If a new Switch has docker performance matching XBox Series X and delivered FIFA, GTA6, RedDead3, BlackOpsV, Madden, etc etc etc. Why would you bother with anything else. Would you really buy an XBox just to be able to play Halo, Forza and Gears? To win an argument, of course you would, being honest with yourself? Would you hell.
@TimG13
Totally agreed I have an Xbox one x and Forza horizon 4 is the game I can see leads in that department. All the rest belong to Sony. Would like to A Sony studio release AAA FPS.
Hell, Mario Kart 8 pushed them numbers. I get it though, this is not about Nintendo. Phil is the man of the hour!
Mr. Phil Spencer is a boss! Im glad Xbox has such a cool leader.
From the outside, everybody thinks that Microsoft doesn't have good games. It's a stereotype. When you talk to that people you realise they have never had an Xbox console.
I thought that as well until I got an Xbox One, my first Xbox console. Even the Xbox 360 games that Rare developed, all you hear is Nintendo fans saying that they are bad but they haven't played them. So you think, yes, Microsoft owns Rare, but Rare games are now bad. So you only buy and Xbox One when Rare Replay is announced. My case as a Nintendo fan. Rare Replay includes 30 Rare games, some of them are remastered or 4K or both. Grabbed by the Ghoulies is 60 FPS instead of 30 and it's actually fun. Nintendo would have sold you each of those games separately.
You get an Xbox One, Rare Replay, Forza Horizon 3 and start playing all the Rare games you've missed and you enjoy them. You start playing diverse Xbox One games on Game Pass and you realise that it's not what you have been reading on Nintendo and Sony forums. As a Nintendo fan all my life, you realise there are good, sometimes better, games outside Nintendo but that everyone that doesn't have an Xbox believes the stereotypes and that there are only shooters and boring racing games on Xbox.
I got a PS4 before an Xbox One. I had heard that The Last of Us is the best survival horror game ever and that Uncharted is the best thing available on PS. Then you realise that The Last of Us and Uncharted games have rubbish gameplay and great motion capture and voice acting and how extremely overrated they are even when you're are a fan of the genres as I am. Those overrated Sony games are basically interactive films with mediocre gameplay. Rubbish gameplay in some parts, like the shooting sections of the Uncharted games and the hiding parts of The Last of Us I. Tomb Raider wipes the floor with Uncharted games and Resident Evil with the The Last of Us games.
Yes, Xbox One needed more first-party games, I know all that, but I hope that the new Xbox Game Studios do that for Series X and, with backwards compatibility, you still can play old games on it.
@Shinobi1Kenoby Clearly Sony's games haven't done it for you this gen, and that's fine. Not everyone is going to like the same things, and that's what generates great discussion. But I think it's fair to say that the general consensus is that Sony have by and large knocked it out of the park with their PS4 exclusives. Even if they're not to your own tastes, you can surely still appreciate that many others hold them in high regard. For me personally, I've never really got on with Halo, but I can see and understand why millions of other players love it.
As for how well third party games perform, that's a separate conversation to comparing first party titles. Yes, Xbox One X is going to win by default here purely because it's more powerful, but bear in mind the X is a premium priced enhanced console. It's the PS4 that usually comes out on top when comparing the base consoles.
@TimG13 What are the games of the generation in your opinion?
@BlueOcean Off the top of my head, and in no particular order:
The Witcher 3
Horizon
God Of War
Forza Horizon 3/4
Uncharted 4
The Last Of Us Part II
Bloodborne
Red Dead Redemption 2
Overwatch
I'm sure there's more I haven't mentioned, but I think these are the games that stand out as the ones people will remember.
I was hesitant to include any Switch games here, as Nintendo do generations differently, but Breath Of The Wild deserves a shout.
@TimG13 PlayStation “knocks it out if they park” purely based on the size of the install base. The actual number of genuinely good quality games on PS4 is low. Regardless of sales.
It’s the same of Star Wars. Star Wars fan boys will tout every single film. Whereas looking at the objectively, there is only one high quality and credible film out of all 9.
But ticket sales will tell you a different story. There’s plenty of unbelievably awesome movies and games that have low sales and vice versa. Numbers mean nothing. Otherwise we’d have to agree that FIFA and need for speed are the two best games ever made every single year? Correct?
@TimG13 I'm a huge Zelda and Mario fan and I wouldn't include Breath of the Wild or Super Mario Odyssey and I have played both a lot. I would include Twilight Princess HD, Majora's Mask 3D and Ocarina of Time 3D if we would allow remasters on the list. From Sony I'd include Wipeout Omega Collection but that's another remaster/compilation. I would also include Rare Replay but that's a compilation.
Fire Emblem Awakening
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Resident Evil VII and 2
Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition
Sea of Thieves
Forza Horizon 3 and 4
Rise of and Shadow of the Tomb Raider
Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey
Quantum Break
Sunset Overdrive
The Witcher 3
Fortnite (love/hate relationship)
I have The Witcher 3 and I haven't played it but I think it deserves to be on the list. I almost included Metal Gear Solid V because of the gameplay and graphics but the rubbish story, script and ending makes me not to.
If I remember more I'll update.
@uptownsoul Yes but GOTY nominations don't mean that they are better-quality either. They're just opinions/agreements/commercial success, as valid as his opinion. As you can see, we all have different games of the generation lists.
@uptownsoul If you don't mind, could you list the seven PS4 exclusive games that have been nominated and by who? I'm just wondering what those seven games are.
@Shinobi1Kenoby I think you're getting a bit confused. Yes, a larger install base would naturally lead to higher sales and, generally speaking, more people liking a game. But it doesn't have an influence on how well a game is received. As you say, there are plenty of amazing games with low sales, but are nevertheless regarded as classics, Ico and Shadow Of The Colossus being the most obvious, and perhaps famous, examples.
@uptownsoul it outright does mean they lack quality. There are some low quality games that I like also.
The vast majority of Sony games still play and move like PS2 games. Bloodborne is a massive example of this and is absolutely dire and bad quality throughout. But this is lauded as one of your “Game of the Year” games.
There are those games that generally would not get touched if they were multi format but, because they are exclusive, they are popular amongst hardware fanboys. Smash Bros is another example of this. If this wasn’t choc full of Nintendo characters, it would sell bugger all and isn’t actually a good quality game.
The vast majority of PS4 games fall into this slot of being over-celebrated and over-loved just because.
Actual solid high quality games that are exclusive to PS4 alone can be counted on one hand. To be fair, the same can be said of XBox One X.
They are multi-format consoles and not genuine gaming consoles like Sega, Nintendo and Atari are/were. They are more like dumbed down PC gaming platforms than they are gaming consoles. This why they lack true top tier in-house AAA development studios.
Any acclaimed first party studio has always been bought out then paraded around as Sony/XBox. The only top level company Sony has acquired is Naughty Dog, but this I my accounts for two exclusive IPs on the platform and only one of them has retained its quality and improved.
XBox bought Rare which should have been an incredible investment, till it turned out they bought a name alone and ended up with nothing of any worth to add to their stable of exclusive IPs.
When you rely on buying in your product you have much less creative output than if your company is building the hardware and the software that defines that console. The Switch has been THE best gaming platform in a long time for a number of reasons. Where the other two mop up and excel is the number of quality third party games that aren’t on Switch and need the more powerful hardware. It’s almost pointless owning a PS4 and an XBox unless you are really into gaming and it is worth shelling out for a while set up just to access those 2-3 games that just aren’t playable by any other means.
@TimG13 not confused at all. If anything I’m not seeing what you’re trying to say.
@BlueOcean I'd say remasters are off the table, although they can surely get an honourable mention. As for full-blown remakes like Resi 2, they definitely count, and I wholeheartedly agree Resi 2 is another game of the generation. Resi VII, on the other hand, I'm not so sure about. As brilliant as it is - well, the first two acts anyway - I think the games which influenced it, particularly Amnesia, are more deserving of the credit.
But herein lies the problem. Are we talking about our personal picks of the generation, or games which we think the industry as a whole will fondly look back on? It's like you say with The Witcher 3, a game you yourself haven't played but recognise it's significance. It's the same with Overwatch for me. I don't much care for it, but appreciate how important it has been.
This is perhaps a big can of worms we should refrain from prying open anymore here. Perhaps a new forum thread?
@uptownsoul it’s there for marketing purposes and means nothing. Same as the Oscars.
@uptownsoul
Bloodborne - utter and total garbage. Uncharted 4 - one of worst in the franchise.
Horizon Zero Dawn - only just started playing
God of War (2018) - great game
Marvel's Spider-Man - mediocre. Strong city navigation but very weak everything else.
Death Stranding - not played.
I own all but one of these and base my opinion on hands on with them, not from looking at a single screen shot.
The only games I think are worth the price of entry to a PS4 are Street Fighter V, The Last of Us 2 and hopefully Ghost of Tsushima... this look like it should be incredible.
@Shinobi1Kenoby Okay, here we go again.
It goes without saying everyone has different tastes and opinions, in your case you don't agree with the critical reception Sony's PS4 exclusives have received, and based on the comments here alone you are not the only one. But surely you can at least acknowledge the high praise they've received and understand the reasons why others like them.
@TimG13 nope. Not at all.
Some of them yes to maybe, the other half? Categorically no. In particular I’m looking at Bloodborne. I find it very difficult to describe this game without resorting to expletives.
It is, front to back, an absolute pile of ....
@PretendWorking it looks highly likely that Persona 5, and possible 1 through to 4, will end up being released on Switch.
@PretendWorking port begging? 😂
No, based on Atlus working with Nintendo a lot, having Joker added to Smash Bros, already working on Persona titles for Switch and Atlus themselves addressing the user base directly for Demand on porting all past Persona games...... you are aware Sony don’t own Atlus or the Persona franchise aren’t you?
@Shinobi1Kenoby Okay, you don't like Bloodborne, and there are no doubt many who are in the same boat. That's your opinion and it's neither the right or wrong opinion. But you do at least recognise it has a large following who absolutely adore the game, and concede it will be remembered by the wider community as one the PS4's best games, even if you don't see it yourself.
@Shinobi1Kenoby switch is definitely the better console out right now. Its going from strength to strength, the other two are being moved out the way for their successors, Nintendo is absolutely smashing it for 6 with switch
All of Sony’s exclusives are the same thing, over & over, & over......
3rd person, action/adventure games (maybe open world) with no multiplayer & repetitive gameplay. One and done games.
The games are like interactive movies with lots of QTEs and cutscenes. They cover very little number of genres. Yet Sony Ponies just lap it up no matter what.
At least Microsoft covers a bunch of different genres & offers up multiplayer for their games.
@PretendWorking we’ll see. I think you’re wrong.
@KelticDevil totally agree with you about list Sony exclusives. Downside is, that comment is also true of the XBox exclusives.
@PretendWorking your “primary” console is obviously predominately used to okay third party titles. Assessed on exclusives alone, the Switch is, by a clear mile, the best format available now.
@PretendWorking I think I’m right and I think you’re wrong about everything you say.but they’re our opinions.
What’s “the last couple of days I’ve been active” got to do with anything and supposed to mean? 😂 your opinion is more valid as you’ve posted on here more and for longer? 😂
@PretendWorking for me it is what?
@PretendWorking how am I a troll? 😂 cause I don’t agree with you so I must be saying these things on purpose just to troll you? 😂 😂 Jesus.
@PretendWorking it just is.
However, it is not my “primary” console, but it the best and most impressive gaming hardware ever made.
@PretendWorking Persona 5 is a PS3 game ported to and then remastered again for PS4.
PS3 game.
@PretendWorking the Nintendo games themselves are obviously the main selling point. But when you add other exclusives like Octopath Traveller, Astral Chain and Xenoblade Chronicles franchise it all starts to get very heavy on the quality exclusives side of the scale.
@KelticDevil I think it's the other way round, certainly for this gen, in that Sony covered more genres and offered more diverse games. I always felt Sony's were more than the sum of their parts, whereas Microsoft's could largely be easily categorised as just another shooter or racer.
It's true Microsoft offer up more multiplayer options, but I also think that's where Sony have been rather savvy and gone in the opposite direction, focussing more on single player games. At the end of the last gen and beginning of this one, online gaming was such a hot topic, and Sony evidently saw a gap in the market for more single player, story-driven games. They doubled down on it, and it's served them well. These days, I think the multiplayer landscape is so impenetrable it's hardly worth bothering unless you've already got the brand recognition.
It ultimately comes down to taste, but for my money, the likes of The Last Guardian, Horizon and Dreams offer more variety than State Of Decay, Halo and Ori.
@uptownsoul No, that's a prejudice of yours. I was just curious because I can't find so many great games on PS4 as other PS4 owners. I was wondering what I have missed. Thanks for the list.
@PretendWorking Yes, I have watched the Game Awards sometimes but I can't say that I agree with them. I usually agree with most nominations but not the winners. Just like the Oscars.
@TimG13 Oh well, to be honest, the games that I enjoy the most are my games of the generation because I don't consider that anyone else's opinion is more important than mine (that includes the Game Awards) but I don't consider that mine is more important either. Your list is as valid as mine. The Witcher 3 is the only one on my list that I haven't played but I've watched a friend of mine playing parts of it and I enjoyed what I saw so I bought the GOTY edition. I think that I'll like the game. It's my friend's favourite game ever.
@PretendWorking okay this is the second time you’ve used the Oscars, and I wish you’d stopped. The Oscars are horrible comparison, considering they are more motivated by politics and not necessarily “good movies”. I’d be happy to give you some YouTube Essay, which I’m pretty sure will blow your mind. But I’m sure if you just google “Oscar Bait”, you’ll get a lot of hits.
@PretendWorking
You do realize this is an XBOX website, correct?
And that is my opinion of Sony’s exclusives. If you don’t like or agree with it, I don’t care.
@PretendWorking I think that it's very likely that Persona games will end on Xbox because now things have changed, most third-party games are released on Windows and Xbox, including Japanese RPGs that weren't released on Windows and Xbox before. Third-party exclusive games are fewer and fewer each year, fortunately.
@PretendWorking Even if someone doesn't support Xbox or PS it doesn't mean that they're trolls. One of them is saying why he doesn't like Sony's games and the other one is explaining why he doesn't like Sony and Microsoft's games. It would be like saying that you're a troll because you're only supporting Sony... on an Xbox website. Let them have their opinions. The only thing that I think you're right is about Switch being massively underpowered (just slightly ahead of Wii U which was one generation late) and having too many Wii U ports. I don't mind the abundance of ports but they're overpriced and that's what I don't like because I have bought the Wii U games already.
@PretendWorking @BlueOcean
I see the Sony troll who worships The Game Awards is back. 😂
@TimG13
Xbox has more exclusives than just shooters & racers. You even named two in your own comment. 😂🙄
Thanks for making my point for me. 👍🏻
@TimG13 I don't agree with most of what you said but I like your respectful attitude. I agree about a few things, Sony has focused on single-player games this generation but for every genre that Sony has covered, I can find a third-party game that I enjoy much more. That doesn't mean that Microsoft should be focusing on multiplayer games only just because there are third-party games but that I don't think that Sony's games are that great.
The things I remember fondly about PS4 games are bits of Uncharted and The Last of Us games but mostly for the voice acting and the script, and Wipeout. On the other hand, I have had a lot of fun playing many Xbox One games. I think that Microsoft needs more single player games though and that's why they acquired so many studios.
In short, Sony's games are overrated. Those 10/10 Sony games are really 8/10 games and can't hold a candle to legendary 10/10 games of the past developed by Nintendo. Microsoft's games, on the other hand, need to be perfect to get a 10/10 score because no one overrates a Microsoft game.
@PretendWorking I wouldn’t class donkey kong, Mario kart or smash bros as Switch games. I played these on Wii U long before they were listed to Switch. breath of the wild however was well more a Switch game. I don’t imagine the sales numbers on Wii U even warranted it being ported on Wii U. The difference however is that porting the Wii U games has taken a small batch of phenomenal games, missed out by most of the gaming user base due to poor reception of the Wii U and delivered them on a console with a huge user base, letting them experience some awesome gaming the never previously had the chance to play.
Sony giving PS4 users, Persona 5, Last of Us, God of war 3, GTA V etc etc is just lazy and recycling in the hope that people would rebuy old games just so they had something to play on PS4.
@PretendWorking best gaming hardware. I never said Nintendo invented the wheel and the google tablet is irrelevant. Where’s the section in a gaming store for that software library in the gaming market? 😂 you’re brilliant at pointless points
@PretendWorking But you called two people troll and I don't think they deserve that, they're just being honest about what they like. Wish someone defended me as I do 😂. Just kidding.
@zane547 perhaps. Funny thing, after I made that statement I went there and read an article on how well TLoU2 sold, and one of their admins actually instigated a whole avalanche of “this is why GamePass is a loser strategy”.
It does seem the site itself is heavily focused on instigating dislike of MS products.
@PretendWorking the signal to noise ratio is much lower and so far I never see the admins instigate it.
My ignore list has a few people blocked from this site, but it seems just A handful ignores drastically smoothed things out.
It was as unnecessary of an instigation as the whole article with a smirky kratos about being confident on their event.
BTW: all this gen I been a PS4 player first, I have every single console, but instigation is not good for the gaming community, only for click bait and creating engagement via vitriol.
@PretendWorking (replying to your edit) I never claimed that was a quote, I said the avalanche of posts that followed was literally “this is why it’s a loser strategy”
I like how the first and most liked post mentions how stupid the console wars are. And then I see almost a hundred comments banging on about Xbox vs Sony vs Nintendo, pointing fingers, and going on about whether this site or PushSquare is better one. The irony...
Just enjoy your games and be nice to each other.
@zane547 I just hope as this site grows, it does not foster the same mindset among readers.
Nintendo Life, for the most part, seems to be a way friendlier place than push to comment at, so my hopes are likely realistic.
@BlueOcean
I completely agree. “Critics” giving games like The Last Of Us perfect scores clearly don’t remember Nintendo’s games of the past that revolutionized their genres.
Zelda: Ocarnia Of Time & Mario 64 laugh at Uncharted & The Last Of Us. Even the original Halo on OG Xbox changed console FPS forever. Sony’s exclusives have done none of that.
@PretendWorking
Adult conversation? Really? Is that a joke?
You come to an Xbox website & always rip on Xbox. What do you expect? Why are you even here?
You don’t see me over on Push Square being a troll trying to start nonsense with the people over there like you do over here.
If you don’t like my opinions, ok. Like I said before, I don’t care. 🙄
@zane547
Sorry, I meant PS4 exclusives. I am on my phone, so I try to make things brief when I type.
I agree with you about Gran Turismo. I loved that on the original PlayStation.
@Tharsman What users you have ignored I'm wondering because you have mentioned it a few times. I wonder if they post mainly on here or they are recent PushSquare guerrillas. Intriguing. Also, I agree with that there's toxicity in there and I'd add misinformation encouraged by its administration and writers.
@zane547 Most people on Nintendo Life are friendly like on PureXbox but I agree the quality of its content is not high. It used to be much better. That said, I have ignored around 8 people on NL (shared list for the three websites) because they're very annoying and aggressive and don't let you have an opinion. I know on PushSquare it's worse but I don't spend much time in there.
@BlueOcean many cross-post across all 3 sites and the block list is shared. I usually end up doing it after trying to have dialog and they just obviously just want to fight.
One of them has been replied to a lot on this page, and it’s like watching people argue with a ghost 😅
@Tharsman Thanks for not ignoring me because I like you! 😅
I just eddited my last comment to explain my ignore list.
@PretendWorking you missed my point which had nothing to do with Game awards, Did I say anything about them? Touchy much. sighs At lthe moment, the Game Award winners are currently voted on by the people playing games. My issue was with your Oscar Parallels I don’t care if you want to use the Game Awards, I’m saying don’t use the Oscars. I’m hope the Game awards never get completely to that point. Did you know Meatloaf can vote for best picture? Probably not ?
@KelticDevil I did say "largely categorised as shooters", not just. I think there's still a problem with the perception of Xbox. Most people still see Xbox as the Halo/Gears/Forza machine. Now before people shoot me down siting Sea Of Thieves, Halo Wars and Ori, I still think shooters are the most prominent genre on Xbox. On top of Halo and Gears, games like Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break and Crackdown 3 are still variations of a shooter at their cores.
I also think comparing Ocarina Of Time and Mario 64 to Uncharted and The Last Of Us doesn't make sense because they're completely different games from completely different times. Perhaps none of Sony's PS4 games have revolutionised their respective genres, but they have spearheaded a movement to more story driven games.
If people want to fly the flag for Xbox then I'll stand by them all the way. I am posting on an Xbox site after all. I was just simply sharing my opinion, not saying everyone has to agree with it.
@PretendWorking I think it's more a case of neither Sony or Nintendo need their own version of gamepass.
Microsoft needed something to get peoples attention. If xbox one had steamrolled PS4 there would be no gamepass. As it stands, they were steamrolled by Sony and I use gamepass myself. Good value for money.
PS4 doesn't need a gamepass because Sony's software sales are so high. Forget Nintendo, its like getting blood from a stone trying to get them to update their Nintendo Switch Online games, they'd probably rather double down on phone games than go the gamepass route. But then everything they make sells extremely high, so why would they?
@PretendWorking "Console exclusive nominations so far: So in six years so far: Sony 7, Nintendo 5, Microsoft 0".
I see that Forza Horizon 4 doesn't count although it wasn't just a nomination like your 7 PlayStation (not Sony) games but it actually won and don't use the excuse that it's available on Windows because you know very well that's part of the deal with Xbox One and Series X. Sea of Thieves was nominated. You forgot that one, too. I guess you just love writing "Microsoft: 0" just because they happen to have two platforms, Xbox and Windows.
@TimG13 yes you are correct you can't compare Sony's games to Nintendo's. I think Sony releasing more story driven games is good tho, in the case of the last of us 2 Naughty Dog really created something special. All types of games can sit alongside each other.
@TimG13
You just brought up two more Xbox exclusives that are not shooters. With your previous games you brought up (contradicting your own point), we are up to 4 now.
Shall we keep going? 😉
@SuperNintendoMii I endorse your message.

I removed one after years to give him a second chance.
@KelticDevil I never said Xbox has absolutely nothing other than shooters.
Shall we keep going? I'd rather not. This is getting tiring, and I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.
@PretendWorking If you want people to be nice to you why don't you start being nice to them?
And I'm happy and respectful, thank you for caring. I'm just a bit bored and with my phone too close 😂.
@PretendWorking Fine. Let's do it then.
Also, congratulations to PureXbox for the visits and comments record. 😆
@zane547
Same....no worries.
I have owned every PlayStation except a PS4. I even owned a Vita! And Sony screwed me over on that one! 😡 lol. I have owned every Xbox, obviously.
In another thread, I knocked the Uncharted series for getting stale by the time I got to Uncharted 3. I haven’t played Uncharted 4, so I will never comment on it.
But I also said (in the other thread) that Uncharted 2 as a masterpiece. It was one of the best games of last generation.
Do I like Sony? Nope. But I don’t have some blind hatred for a company. Do I love Xbox? Yep. I have been a huge Xbox fan since the OG Xbox. But my opinions are just that. Opinions.
If people don’t agree with me, that’s cool. Just like I could say I had way more fun playing Super Stardust HD on my PS3 than I did playing The Last Of Us. Or that Killzone 2 was amazing, but the other two I played were either trash (original Killzone) or good (Killzone 3). It’s all subjective opinion.
To your point about Halo.....after Halo 3, I liked ODST & Reach, but thought the review scores were overrated (especially Reach). But I loved Halo 4’s campaign. The ending was so awesome & emotional. I’ll never forget it.
Halo 5? 🤦♂️ At least it’s multiplayer was good. Lol.
I find it really funny that the thread on this site with the most comments is about a PS4 game lol
@SuperNintendoMii About Phil's congratulations to Naughty Dog but the topic attracted Sony gamers. If it was about the game it would have 600 comments like on PushSquare and Eurogamer.
@BlueOcean
Exactly.
@zane547 So what are yours? Give me some clues. 😆
@zane547 If you own all three consoles why not share your preference? 😁 I suspect that it's Sony 😝.
Also, did you mean Me**hi when you asked me?
I was Nintendo-only until this generation. This is the only generation I got many consoles: (New) 3DS, Wii U, PS4, Xbox One (X) and Switch (Lite). My preference looking back is obviously Nintendo but I'm leaning towards Xbox now.
@BlueOcean I play a lot of games on my Xbox that I can't get on PlayStation, more so than the other way round. Plenty of Retro titles such as the amazing Rare Replay but there's also the likes of Guardian Heroes and Nights from the Saturn, other Sega stuff like Virtua Fighter 2, Daytona USA. Even Microsofts games are great and I enjoyed Halo 5 (not the best but still fun) and of course we have them all in nice lovely 4K and Sony has no fps game to compete. Nor is GT Sport anywhere near as good as Forza Horizon and me and my stepson have played a lot of Sea of Thieves, oh and Gears is generally very underrated by the PlayStation crowd. I will say that TLOU2 is a huge step up in the gameplay department from the first, which had a great story but wasn't necessarily great to play but I do see where you're coming from with Naughty Dog.
I own all 3 and the Xbox gets the most use as third party games play best on the X, the PS4 is for exclusives and actually its my Switch that gets the least use as most of its games can be played elsewhere even Nintendo's
@zane547 Facebook is bad for that, someone was trying to claim that the Xbox One had sold about 70 million units, all I did was correct him and he went on about how I was a Pony. Yet at the time I was literally playing Halo 1 on my One X as I paused to read the notification 😅
@carlos82 Nice to see you here, I like your comments on Nintendo Life and I'm also a big Resident Evil fan!
I have also used Switch the least and probably having a Wii U since launch has something to do with it. I have used PS4 quite much even for third-party games before getting an Xbox One or before the games were available. I played all the Kingdom Hearts games except III on PS4 and I completed Metal Gear Solid V on PS4 and that took a long while. The Uncharted games, it's not that I don't like them, it's just that the gameplay doesn't cut it for me. Same for The Last of Us I but yes, Naughty Dog have crafted impressive scenes and the actors are great. Because of that, I kind of liked Uncharted 2, 3, 4 and The Lost Legacy, probably 4 the most. I hated parts of TLoU, the rough gameplay mostly but yes, the scenes and the actors are also good and they refined gameplay in the sequel although it's 30 FPS and the first game is a bit more fluid on PS4.
It's more or less the same for me regarding Xbox. Third-party games are best on Xbox One X and I enjoy a lot of Microsoft's games including Sea of Thieves and the Forza Horizon games. I also love retro games and having Rare Replay and all those 360 and original Xbox games available in better form is a dream. Also, the controller, I prefer the Xbox One (Elite) controller very much and the PS4 doesn't feel comfortable in my hands after a while, I complained a lot about the PS4 controller on Nintendo Life and almost everyone agreed. For all these reasons, I have had more fun with Xbox One than with PS4.
@zane547 Ha but there are much more annoying and radical people than M...chi. I don't mind fanboys talking about how much they like their stuff, the problem is the unfriendly and intolerant people that believe to be entitled to feel superior and sell opinions as facts and pretend that others' opinions are worthless if they differ.
@zane547
I hear ya man. I am old. I grew up in the Atari era. I also lived through the crash. 👍🏻
@carlos82 The best thing that Nintendo has done this generation is bring Maiden of Black Water to the west 😁 with a physical limited edition in Europe and remaster Twilight Princess that is one of my favourite games ever ☺️. It was remastered by Tantalus and was better remastered than The Wind Waker which was remastered by Nintendo...
@BlueOcean the wind waker wasn't remastered, it was entirely rebuilt from scratch.
I do remember it ran more or less at a solid 60fps, the only time it really dropped frames iirc was when you used bombs
@Tharsman Thanks for the heads upon the 'IGNORE' feature, somehow completely missed it, could be a game changer (though downvoting has its place too)
@SuperNintendoMii I'm not sure about that, it was only the lighting model and a few textures that were redone
@BlueOcean from what I understand Windwaker came about as they were experimenting with what they could do on Wii U, a bit like how we ended up with Skyrim on Switch. They definitely put a bit more effort into Twilight Princess, now we just need a version of Skyward Sword where we don't have to wave our arms around
@SuperNintendoMii The upgrade wasn't as big as in Twilight Princess HD. I know because I have the originals and the remasters.
@BlueOcean what do you mean, 'and what'? I'm pointing out it's a remake, not a remaster.
I also have both originals and remasters. Wind Waker HD was the better game, Twilight Princess HD just had a smoother framerate.
@SuperNintendoMii You are wrong again, Twilight Princess is a much superior remaster with reworked and new textures and crystal clear graphics. The Wind Waker just added lighting and upgraded the resolution. Just watch the Digital Foundry analyses.
@carlos82 Yes, that's right, it was Nintendo's first HD experiment with 3D graphics. The most significant addition was the lighting model, indeed. Actually, the places where the frame drops in The Wind Waker HD are the same where the frame rate drops in the original.
@BlueOcean actually you were talking to me, try looking 👆 hence the reason your reply came into my notifications.
Twilight Princess HD is the GameCube game ported over and given a HD varnish. Wind Waker HD was actually given completely new textures, new character models, new lighting. And crystal clear cel shaded graphics.
Twilight Princess HD was a port redone in HD. Wind Waker HD was a remake.
@SuperNintendoMii I wasn't talking to you the first time. You really have no idea what you're talking about, as always. You are just a talkative ignorant, two people and Digital Foundry have proved you're wrong, one more time.

@BlueOcean nice stealth edit there to remove 'and what?'.
Oh well, I'll let you get back to your misinformed ways. You managed to turn a tomb raider quiz into an Uncharted bashing thread, there's a new one about charts. I'm sure you could turn it into the last of us 2 bashing, despite the fact you probably haven't even played the game.
@SuperNintendoMii Nobody tells me what to do and you are absolutely no one to tell me what games to talk about so I'll just give my opinions about the games that I buy and play whether you like it or not. Our conversations are over. Don't talk to me and don't insult me again. Thank you.
@BlueOcean I just did.
Nice again stealth editing posts tho after you tell me what to do.
Dont worry, I won't talk to you again. Rather better that way, then I don't have to hear anymore uninformed garbage like 'Sony won with PS2 and PSOne because they got lucky', while claiming you're not an Xbox fanboy.
Don't bother replying, I'm blocking you. Bellend.
@SuperNintendoMii Unlike you, I didn't stealth edit my posts to remove insults and those insults have been reported.
@Octane
Finally, a grown-up! 😄
