Racing specialist Codemasters has announced that it has secured the rights to the FIA World Rally Championship, and will be releasing annual WRC games from 2023 to 2027. The new deal will also allow the company to handle eSports tournaments based on the franchise.
Until then, Video Games Chronicle claims it's understood that current license holder Bigben Interactive will continue releasing games based on the competition. The publisher is presently gearing up to release WRC 9 for Xbox One later this year, which will also be coming to Xbox Series X.
Meanwhile, Codemasters says that its DiRT Rally team is already working on its next project ahead of the WRC agreement. The company is also getting ready to release DiRT 5 for Xbox One and Xbox Series X later this year.
Are you excited for this, or disappointed Bigben Interactive is losing the license? Let us know below.

Codemasters certainly do love racing games.
Great news. Bigben should also be fine considering V Rally was released out of the WRC licence and they have the talent to still make games fun. Great for Codies to have a go and tie the licence into their Dirt Rally series.
