Following the reveal of the official cover art for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga earlier today, the Star Wars website has posted a new interview with TT Games about the making of the title. Lots of interesting information has been shared, including the fact that it features almost 500 characters!
Temper your expectations just a little, because not all of those 500 will be playable. Speaking in the interview, Lucasfilm Games managing producer Craig Derrick explained more:
"There are nearly 500 characters in this game, with many of them playable. When choosing characters for a game this large, we just looked at every film in the saga and tried to say “yes” as much as possible. That said, it often comes down to storytelling and the specific role of the character in the quests and game progression. Of course, we have almost all of your favorite heroes and villains from the films, many background players, a few surprises, and…Yaddle!"
The interview also revealed more about the "massive" size of the game, which is built from the ground-up and focuses on all nine films in the Skywalker Saga, featuring new technology and new game mechanics in the process. Head of production and strategic director at TT Games Jonathan Smith even went as far as to say the company is aiming "as high as possible; to create a LEGO landmark."
"All of us at TT are deeply bonded with LEGO gaming; we’re honored and proud to be part of this next installment in the story, and we hope that all those fans who care just as deeply as we do about it, will be delighted with The Skywalker Saga."

Baby Yoda too?
( o.o)
Yes, yes, and so much yes. I've said it before elsewhere, but I see this becoming the best LEGO game of all time, and one of the best Star Wars games of all time. I am absolutely excited to get stuck in when it finally releases.
