The first reviews for Minecraft Dungeons have gone live, and they're looking positive on the whole! We've rounded up just a few of them below, so let's see what reviewers are saying about the game so far:
We'll start over at Windows Central, which gave the game the equivalent of a 9/10. The review praised its unique art style, "sublime" combat and impressive soundtrack:
"Minecraft Dungeons is a game that I didn't know I wanted. When it was first announced a few years ago, I wondered if it was going to be another simple spin-off like Minecraft Story Mode, or something akin to Left 4 Dead. Instead, we've ended up with something that defies all of my early skepticism and truly delivers."
Meanwhile, Destructoid was also largely positive, giving Minecraft Dungeons an 8/10. Its review recognised that the game "won't astound everyone, but is worth your time and cash."
"Although Minecraft Dungeons might not have the depth that a lot of hardcore dungeon crawler fans are looking for, it's an easy game to pick up and play at pretty much any point: solo or otherwise. Minecraft has proven itself to be quite the enduring and endearing IP over the past decade, and Dungeons is now partially responsible for that legacy."
Finally, GamesRadar gave the game the equivalent of a 7/10, citing positives such as its easy-to-pick-up nature and classic Minecraft charm, but also criticising its short length and relatively shallow role-playing mechanics.
"As a more approachable entry point for the hack and slash genre that levels the playing field against its brawnier contemporaries, Minecraft Dungeons succeeds wholeheartedly, filling a gap in the market in a way that only a Mojang creation could. But those achievements aren't enough to avoid the sense of feeling a little shortchanged by Dungeons' light touch, with the base game only just meeting the bare minimum of what is typically expected from an action-RPG in terms of content, replay value, and player progression."
At the time of writing, Minecraft Dungeons for PC has a Metacritic rating of 76 based on 11 critic reviews. The Xbox One version only has a couple of reviews for now. We'll be providing our own review of Minecraft Dungeons in the near future, so keep an eye out for that one!
The game launches for Xbox One and PC on Tuesday, May 26, and will also be available with Xbox Game Pass.

I'm not the biggest Minecraft fan but I admit that it's a great game and Dungeons looks very interesting. If a reviewer gives 10 to Animal Crossing New Horizons and a 7 to Minecraft Dungeons then it's clear that the developer's name has something to do.
Glad to hear this game is getting good review scores.
Where's the physical release for this though???
