I got really excited by Scorn, even if it was just a video, and also by hearing Yamaoka's music. Yakuza is always nice. All the other stuff? Meh.
Dirt 5 and Madden are day one purchases. Chorus and Bright Memory look interesting, pass on the rest.
I was a little underwhelmed with the reveal.. I thought we were gonna get AC gameplay and all we got were cinematic cutscenes.. Overall though there were games that caught my eye, Bright Memory Infinite looks really good.. I also thought Second extinction looked really fun aswell.
A couple games looked interesting, but that show was very underwhelming.
I wanted MORE gameplay. Yakuza saved the show if I'm to be honest.
It was pretty meh all things considered. I'll get AC at launch but that's about it for me. I really hate all these "gameplay" reveals and it's just cinematics. Gonna need to see more Microsoft!
I’m definitely intrigued by Scarlet Nexus. It’s given me GodEater flashes though I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing at this point
Not the best showing but credit to MS for trying. The pandemic is really affecting every industry, atm. I think with that in mind showcases like this don't seem so bad.
Chorvs looks neat. Not enough spaceship games out there.
The Medium has a ton of potential, and Yamaoka was a great snag (his style is instantly recognizable). I just hope the gameplay holds up with proper puzzles and exploration.
Yakuza: Life a Dragon continues to look like a blast.
Otherwise? Eh.
Scorn was the game that really got my interest as a big fan of H R Gigers artwork. I can't say a lot else really jumped out to me and overall, it was OK. The first game seemed a bit of a modern day Sekiro which looked OK until the driving sequence...
It did look like a LOT were built/designed for current gen - unsurprisingly...
The Medium is the one that looked really promising for me and they are apparently leveraging some next gen features to make a game that might not work on today's consoles, on that we'll see. Everything else just seems like we'll get higher res/framerates over current gen but Dirt 5 looks a lot of fun
Couple of decent looking horror games, Dirt 5 looks great, and I'm obviously going to get Valhalla. It was a good show; pretty much what I was expecting!
I really enjoyed this small presentation. I hadn't heard of any of the games so it was pretty fun going through and seeing what the future was going to be like.
the Medium and Chorvs are my favorite out of the reveals, but I'm also looking forward to Call of the Sea and Scarlet Nexus.
( ^_^)
@Quaali Oh yeah. While most brought whatever they could find and EA simply reheated last year's leftovers, Sega came to Microsoft's table with the turkey, ham AND champagne... all at the same time to boot.
Day-and-date Yakuza was a great surprise and DIRT 5 looks ready to scratch that Horizon itch. Everything else sucked - and, for how much hype they put into this, that's simply inexcusable.
For both their sake and ours, here's hoping the next shows will be better.
Just an update.....
I have heard from multiple sources that Scorn & The Ascent are Xbox console exclusives. Not sure if it’s 100% true or not, but I have watched two different podcasts that have mentioned it.
If true, why wouldn’t Microsoft mention that during the reveal?
Perhaps too short and fast to really appreciate the games. I'm sure that there will be great third-party games but probably Assassin's Creed is the most appealing because it has been exposed the most (no real gameplay though). Remember Nintendo's brainwashing with Breath of the Wild gameplay?
@KelticDevil It might be a decision of the publisher without an exclusive agreement with Microsoft like Annapurna Interactive that seems to focus on Windows and Xbox lately (The Artful Escape, 12 Minutes, Last Stop) or StudioMDHR and Cuphead until it was ported to Switch. Some recent games launch on PC and Xbox exclusively for some reason.
@BlueOcean
A couple other games are now rumored to being Xbox exclusives too. Like you said, maybe it has something to do with the publisher/developer, but it’s weird that they wouldn’t announce these as exclusives.
@KelticDevil Yeah, it's looking good for Xbox. It's going to be exciting to see what first-party games will be shown in July, too.
@KelticDevil they might be “timed” exclusives. They wouldn’t want to mention the other platforms and MS maybe didn’t want to say “on Xbox first” because people pick up on that like they did with FFVIIR.
The current-gen game that I want to see running on Series X is Monster Hunter World. Capcom's best-selling game seems to be their least optimised game.
@mousieone
True. Sony gets a lot of flack for timed 3rd party deals, so maybe Microsoft doesn’t want the bad press.
Or maybe since these are smaller teams, and with the coronavirus going on, these teams only have time for one version for now. Who knows?
But since the show ended, it has come out that 4-5 of the games shown are possible console exclusives. It’s just a very odd lack of clarity in the messaging, which Microsoft has been great at lately.
