Ubisoft have confirmed that Just Dance 2016 will be coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360, and that players on the Xbox One won't even need Kinect to be able to play it.

Instead, they'll be able to use their smartphones as controllers, which pretty much confirms what we've all known for ages, which is that despite Ubisoft's claims about total body control each and every year, Just Dance only ever cared about how you moved your hands.

Now, we're not sure how much of a good idea it is to hand over your expensive smartphone to your kids so that they can play Just Dance, or to be using smartphones at a drunken party to play the game, but there you go. We can envisage many LCD screens being smashed to smithereens.

Aside from the removal of the Kinect requirement, the game will come with access to Just Dance Unlimited, which is a new service - similar to the one found in Guitar Hero Live - which provides a stream of tracks for players to download and play via the internet. Never again will you have the massive internal battle over which Katy Perry song to dance to next...you'll just be able to leave it up to Just Dance Unlimited.

Just Dance 2016 launches this holiday season, for Xbox One and Xbox 360.
