All Xbox Games With Mouse & Keyboard Support

I will never use mouse and keyboard for video games, I refuse to..

@Bmartin001 do you also refuse to use a game controller when playing on PC?
Just seems like a weird stance to take. If it suits the game better and you have the equipment, then why not?

I used a mouse and keyboard for gears tactics on Xbox one and I couldn't imagine playing it with a controller. I tried the controller briefly at the start but KB+m was just a better fit for me.

It's a shame that certain games with adapted controller schemes don't also include the original mouse and keyboard option such as Two Point Hospital and the Command and Conquer games on 360. It puts me off purchasing them

@NicolausCamp @CrazyJF I just really don't like playing with mouse and keyboard i tried it once before and i didn't like. Plus i strongly prefer console to PC.

I use Mouse and keyboard for first person games as best option but third person and driving games I use the controller 😁

I love the Xbox controller, but for certain game like Cities Skylines a mouse and keyboard is much preferable.

The reality is that certain games are best played with a M&KB. That's the truth! Pit me against a gamer on a controller in an FPS, and I can promise you, 90% of the time I'll drop them before they even see me if I use a M&KB. Certain games though are definitely better played with a controller. I find it easer to play games like AC with a controller than a M&KB, and fighting games can definitely benefit from a controller rather than a M&KB. Racing games are also better played with a controller!

I find a controller just far more relaxing. I might use a controller for an RTS or sim style game.

@G8crasha You and probably a lot of others play FPS games better on a M&K, but with Halo MCC being crossplay now, I've noticed that even with a controller, I'm destroying the majority of M&K users I'm coming up against.

A M&K isn't going to give the advantage to a low skill player.

@Richnj @G8crasha I think I'm the opposite now; from years of KB&M use on PC, I've adapted to a controller fro the likes of Halo as I do a lot of stuff from the comfort of my couch now. It will vary from player to player.

@Richnj True, but I've been a PC gamer since '95, so I grew up on FPS titles using M&KB. Even though I have an XSX, and I was an avid PS4 player before, I'm far more skilled with a M&KB, but I can tell you now, if all I had was a controller, and I played a MP game like Warzone, I'd be buried by other players, even those with less skill but who are used to playing such titles with a controller! It's the delicate movement of the stick that screws me over!

Still waiting for support for them on Two Point Hospital and Zoo Tycoon. 😭

That list is a lot longer than I would have guessed!

I greatly prefer controller to mouse and key, but, there are times where M&K just makes sense - like Hypnospace Outlaw for example. Playing that with a controller is antithetical to the intended experience, and it's honestly weird that they even made using a controller possible.

Literally just last night I was trying to play NOLF on PC with a controller, and I just could not get it to work properly. Eventually I just gave up and started the PS2 version, even though it looks and runs quite a bit worse, just because I pretty much always avoid M&K whenever possible.

Sometimes I am forced to use M&K though, like with Thief Gold, Thief 2, and Black Mesa for example, and it honestly detracts from the experience for me - I just kinda hate it. I know some would say that's crazy, or "get good" or whatever, but I grew up with controllers, and I think I will 99% always prefer them.

I find it odd that Sudden Strike 4 is not on that list ah well guess I will just play it on PC instead

I'm actually kind of surprised at how little this list is. Some games are just better played with mouse/keyboard and I have a hard time thinking that it would be a stretch to include it as an option on console, especially when most of the games have PC releases.

Wish Destiny was on this list.

Personally, I really appreciate the M&K support from Xbox. I am a console and PC gamer but having played competitively on FPS games in my teens and early 20s I just can’t play them on controller without feeling frustration because I can’t aim properly compared to the mouse. I know what I want to do, but I can’t execute the action.

I have friends who can aim well on controller and they can’t use M&K, but I’m the opposite and as such I generally play them on PC. The exception is Destiny 1 which I love. If that had M&K support or was released in PC I would enjoy experiencing it all over again but with a M&K.

A bigger list than I expected. Surprised not to see Halo Wars 2 on there.

@Iceman5x5 If it involves any kind of aiming I'll take Mouse and Keyboard over controller so that would include 3rd person shooters as well for me. Hell for GTA V I use mouse and keyboard for most of it and only pick up the controller when I have to drive.

We need MORE games with mouse and keyboard support. I'd use my Series X a lot more when that happens.

It kills me that Halo Wars 2 doesn't have M&K support...

I'll have to try it out. I can imagine The Sims 4 being better with mouse and keyboard on the Xbox

KB+M in FPS games gives so much more precision because you can use more muscles, your whole arm, instead of just one finger

Didn't realize Halo MCC on Xbox had this support. But can you remap the keyboard? I game left handed with k/m and use the keypad for movement.

Cluster lazy F*cks @ Bestheda provided KBM support for Doom 64 which was designed for gamepads and has absolutely no use of KBM support, but lets ignore Doom Eternal which needed it the most..

@Xiovanni With most fps games going crossplay I have to disagree. I've come from being a mainly pc gamer to being a console gamer and enjoy having a choice of input devices. I think fps and 4x strategy games are far better on mouse and keys but in the same token I cant imagine playing Mario galaxy or dead cells on m+k, it just wouldn't work. As for pc gamers being toxic I think I've had the same kind of experiences on both pc and console with regards to that. I'm not sure it's the platform but rather the game

@Woodinghal i dont know i find playstation gamers pretty toxic in crossplat games like Apex not always but more times then not they are the ones bitching you died and calling you trash even though you had more kills and dmg then them...

as a user of the keyboard & mouse for space engineers on the Xbox( which isn't on the list), i can say that using it made it easier for me to transfer & play it as a pc space engineers player,

p.s. i also use my Xbox controller on the pc for most games

I cannot stand playing with a controller so having mouse and keyboard support is wonderful for me. I've been gaming since the original pong console so it's not like i'm not used to controllers. I'm just no good with them. Some games are ok with a controller but for most i'll take a mouse and keyboard any day.

It blows my mind that some of the strategy games aren’t supporting K&M, like Civilisation 6

Planet Coaster also has full K&M support but is missing from this list.

As we are now able to stream games from Nvidia GeForce Now through the Edge browser, surely that increases the list massively for mouse and keyboard support? I’m considering subscribing to Nvidia GeForce Now but is it hit and miss when streaming from the Edge browser on the Series X? I do have excellent internet connection/speed.

Had hoped to find no man's sky on here, just replaying it on xsx 4k etc, and inventory management is good, no issues, but would be better with kbm.

ya most mouse and keyboard players think that they can run over a controller player 90% of the times on FPS and its not true at all. i play controller on SpiltGate for example and i had a lobby of all m&k players and i finished with the most kills and least deaths in back to back games. you would be surprised when someone who has been using a controller his whole life how good they can get with it. i cant wait for Halo Infinite cause im going to poop on m&k players that are way over confident in their own skills with m&k vs controller

Lack of gyro aiming on Xbox (and PS for that matter) is a crucial blow to my enjoyment and basically rules out any FPS that's not on Steam or Switch.

But I've had enough. I just ordered the Razer Turret for Series X. I can play all games on Steam with gyro, but since I have Gamepass anyways, and Xbox is easier to jump into than PC, I'm gonna learn KB/M so I can enjoy CoD, Gears, Halo, Zombie Army 4 and Metro Exodus without having to fire up the PC every time.

I'd much rather use gyro because I love controllers. But I just can't do right analog for aiming. I won't do it. It's too archaic and should have phased out a decade ago. The fact we're still using such a horrible control scheme when the solution has been around for years astounds me.

But, so be it. If I have to learn KB/M to escape this 20-year dated input prison, that's what I'll do.

I am annoyed that Crusader Kings 3 doesn't have Mouse n Keyboard support. I even messaged the studio on Twitter about it and got no response at all. I get they spent a lot of time making the controller controls, but it would be easier to play with M&K

@PxDemaR i have tried it. since my controller broke i had too. its much easier to aim with m&k. but the devs are quite lazy and its extremely janky. i cant even look at the scoreboard. but the easy aiming makes up for it all. also i notice less input delay which is weird.

. i know of two games which aren't on the list which allow m&k. and im nowhere near knowledgeable on this kinda stuff. it just makes me worried about what other games allow m&k and aren't on the list

The Rift Breaker has keyboard mouse support.
It's on game pass and it is a fun RTS blend style game. Great graphics and quick gameplay make for an entertaining game where you run around in a mech and terraform a new planet for earth. There is some pesky natural wildlife to contend with and you are amply equipped with a mech sword and multiple mech armaments (lots of fire power).

Sorry but Cyberpunk 2077 has a limited support for keyboard. You can't change keybindigs and by default it's for qwerty keyboards only.

@G8crasha THat used to be the case. Now really good controller player destroy M&K players in games like Apex Legends at pro level.

I bought the Praetorians HD Remaster because of this list, it came bundled with Commandos 2 HD Remaster which also works with K&M but seems to be missing from this list.

Really wish the XBox store and game library had a tag icon for games that use keyboard and mouse. I always prefer gamepad, but there are a few exceptions. Mostly RTS and Sim games, but a few games are just poorly designed for controllers (Ark: Survival Evolved) and are way better served with KBM support. Thankfully that IS available for Ark, but wish I had known ages ago.

I think it also would help a lot with many of those games on Game Pass Streaming.

Looks like "the house of the dead" doesn't work anywmore. I have read that since a certain OS update , the mouse support is not functionning anymore. I'm I the only one ?

On Hogwarts legacy page on the Xbox store for accessibility options, says full keyboard support. I will be testing this at 9pm tomorrow night when the game is playable.

@FraserG : The Ascent has a LIMITED keyboard/mouse support. You can't rebind keys or mouse buttons. Such a shame for a game like this...

Warhammer 40k Boltgun supports Mouse and Keyboard. Controls can’t be customized and prompt’s don’t change to keyboard prompts.

Roblox needs to be changed to keyboard and mouse (limited) due to the fact that main menu navigation has to be done via a controller but everything that’s done while in a game is able to (mostly) be done via keyboard and mouse

@Flyingfinnstar depending on the game, and player feedback a lot of games don’t launch with keyboard and mouse but it gets added later. Insurgency: Sandstorm is an excellent example of that

Why Cyberpunk and immortals fenyx are limited but hogwarts legacy are not? At least here, cyberpunk works very nice, and Hogwarts Legacy u can't change spells without joystick (on the screen of choose speels) // Ty guys for the work, it helps so much !

Unfortunately Dead Space 2023(tried from gamepass ) does not seem to support keyboard and mouse.
It seems to detect somehow the keyboard in the menu, but you cannot see which controls are which - it lists the controller layout even though you select the keyboard change them and the mouse it's not detected at all(Isaac rotates from num keys 2,4,6,8 instead of the mouse lol.)

Life Is Strange: True Colors has non rebindable Keyboard and mouse support. It's very strange as it's not displayed in the HUD, but it fully works. The ABYX buttons correspond to 1234

Dungeons 4 has kbm support, but quite limited

Sorry for any mistake I used a translator... Remnant 2 works partially, the layout on the screen shows control buttons in such a way that you have to guess which key to press. You can never have the controller on with the game open, or you will no longer be able to turn off without closing the game, you must enter the game through the keyboard with the controller off. There's a certain magnetism to the cursor in the menu items, which makes it a bit weard to use the mouse.

Coral Island has KBM support, I haven't played it yet, I just tested it in the menu, but it worked and the layout changed to the right keys. My joystick was off. Seems a nice support.

Remnant 2 is supported, but the layout is of the controller's buttons. At first it's quite confusing, so I'll try to help a little:
Dont launch the game with joystick on. Never turn on your joystick when the game is open (even in quick resume) . (About the game, i'm loving it. Is a gunfire soulslike but no sadic, if u die soooo many times the boss turn a bit weaker, atleast looks to me.)

Teardown has "full" mouse and keyboard support (you can't rebind the keys, but everything else works fine), tho it's maybe a bit weird and buggy since at first I couldn't use my keyboard, and could only use my mouse on the menus and to move the camera, but it fixed itself later and could use my keyboard as well with no problem whatsoever

I don't see it but I just played The Wandering Village which has Keyboard and Mouse support. It seems full support (although the menus the mouse worked but the cursor wasn't visible, could just have been a bug, I haven't tried it again yet).

The finals support mouse and keyboard but limited the icons don't change in the game the still the same controller icons but the game runs smoothly with mouse and keyboard without any problem you just have to know the keyboard buttons 🔥👍🏻

Palword works with kbm, limited for now

Palworld (Game Preview) supports M&K, but the cursor is invisible. You have to use your controller to select items in your inventory and menu, but in my case, I am used to invisible cursor so its not a big deal for me. And yes, sometimes it detects that you need to turn on your controller if it is off.

If may i give a suggestion, you could make an exel with the games where you add tags like if the game is part of the gamepass catalog, or if it's a f2p game, game preview etc and a classification for the support like red (limited support) yellow (functional support) and green (fully supported). But you just leave it blank until someone brings you the information.

How is Disney’s Dreamlight valley limited to K&M? Can someone explain how it is?

you can use K&M for ''HAWKED'' but its limited theres no mouse cursor and when you use keyboard schematic does not change.

@Dylben Hello, as for Hogwarts Legacy, the biggest problem I had with the support was when changing and selecting the equipped spells, where I was unable to equip the spells using the mouse and I always need to turn on the controller to do so, and a Once you turn on the controller with the game open, that can no longer be turned off. This can be avoided by opening the game using the keyboard, with the controller off, but then I am unable to change spells.

Hey, I just played the outcast demo and the mouse and keyboard(Razer Turret) worked, however you could not remap the keys. Think it is safe to assume it would work on the full game as well.

Hi! Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 which was recently added to gamepass has also keyboard support (same keys configuration as H.W. Unleashed 1).

Really don’t understand why Diablo 4 still doesn’t have m&k support on consoles.

I noticed Ark: Survival Evolved is on this list. I didn't realise that game was even still playable since Ascended came out. I assumed they'd just shut it down to force people over to the new version.

Just got a mouse and keyboard for the Series S so I can play Quake I+II with a little more accuracy. This list is invaluable, thanks for keeping it updated. I didn't know Warhammer 40k Boltgun had it until seeing this list too.

Kona 2 seems to work. I had to invert the vertical axis for mouse and lower the camera sensitivity, and quick inventory doesn’t seem to have a key binding, but otherwise it plays well with K&M. Haven’t tried Kona 1 yet but willing to bet it works also. Will report back on that.

It seems to me that as mouse and keyboard can be so easily implemented on a games console it would be a good time to get WoW on Xbox and PS5. Possibly include it's sub price on with the current gamepass.

Plus theres a money spinner in making an exclusive WoW branded wireless mouse & keyboard that would work on consoles AND PC.

I just started playing Fortnite w/ keyboard and mouse and tried all my games to see which were compatible. Immortals of Aveum has support, but it isn't shown as the buttons on the HUD.

Commandos 2 HD Remaster does NOT have mouse support, despite a previous commentor stating it does. Just tried it, doesn't work.

However, a F2P incremental clicker called DPS idle DOES have full mouse support.

Doki Doki, Forgive Me Father and Lords of the Fallen (2023) work with K&M.

To follow up on Kona 2 - I checked Kona 1 and it doesn’t support K&M at all. Just for completeness.

I know this is not a game, but I'm glad that Aimlabs is fully supported with mouse and keyboard with all the sensitivity settings and key mappings. Though you only have to keep your controller on. As of now, it supports Call of Duty, Fortnite and Apex.

Journey to the savage planet is pretty much full mnk support.

@Haita8850 Not "fully", there's no mouse cursors in menus so you can't teleport w/o a pad or confirm come dialogs. But most stuff works just fine.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space is another game you can play on console but it’s very limited to the accessibility due to inverted camera look that cant change and lacks keyboard hud when in game

Age of Mythology Retold also supports full M&K same with Call of duty black ops 6!

Tested House Flipper 2 works fine with both keyboard and mouse but requires you to keep your controller on at all times

@FraserG Castlevania: Dominus Collection has limited mouse support, in that the 'touch screen' controls can use the mouse, even on XBOX.

One FYI fellas, Immortals of Aveum is a solid game, can be played with K&M like It says above with PC mappings but for some reason the furies aren't mapped (a collection of types of spell) so it's not only limited but also flawed atm.

Robin Hood - Sherwood Builders has limited m&k support. It works for most of the game, other than inventory and crafting, journal and skill trees where there is no mouse cursor.

As many are indicating its very common that gamers use keyboard an mouse for precision, especially in FPS games. This helpful compatibility list will be forever growing and we are grateful of work that's put in. On that note, Would owners of this page consider creating a filter option like FPS, racing, etc.

I use mouse and keyboard for Fps and grand strategy games on my xbox. Iwish thEy add the future to games like fallout, and CK3 as exemple., and it would be great if this feature is included always with games of those categories.

UPDATE: I tried it again and it is detecting keyboard inputs. However, I should note that I connected my Elite controller, I don’t know if that’s what made the difference.

Previously:

Death Stranding has limited MNK support. It supports mouse and it detects the keyboard, but keyboard inputs don’t register. I used a wireless keyboard, I don’t know if a wired one would work. Hopefully they’ll patch it to allow for keyboard inputs.
