Personally I don't and haven't messed with mine from the 'default' setting it came with and it 'feels' good to me. I tend to use the tallest thumbstick for aiming as that is more 'sensitive' and 'precise' - a longer sweep means smaller movements for more precise aiming - in theory...
Apart from using a longer thumbstick for more precise aiming, the main benefit to me is having a paddle to 'jump' or 'crouch/drop' so I can keep my thumb on the thumbstick and keep adjusting my aim to stay on target better.
I don't find the default tension (whatever that is representing) to be an issue or felt the need to 'tweak'. In fact its never factored into my thought process as it didn't affect me at all - I don't even recall noticing much 'difference' between that and a standard XB1 controller that I was 'used' to and may attribute any 'difference' to it being 'brand new' but not significantly 'stiffer' that I needed to adjust the tension and having played hours and hours in one sitting countless times with my Elite and then Elite V2, I can honestly say that I have never thought to adjust the tension for any reason...
