Talking Point: What Is Your Download Speed On Xbox These Days?

In 2024, it's never been more important to have access to a decent internet connection as an Xbox owner. Even if you buy nothing but physical games, it's nearly impossible to get away from the day one installations, the countless title updates every month, dashboard improvements and the need for a stable multiplayer experience.

Even at this point in time though, there are many of us who are working with less-than-ideal download speeds. I'm personally running off a 15mbps connection (thankfully soon to be 500mbps), and even installing the average game can take 8-10 hours... it's very common for me to leave my Xbox installing these games overnight.

For those who do benefit from a decent connection though, Team Xbox has been working over the past year to try and maximise its potential - we've seen numerous updates that have incorporated improvements along these lines:

So, how are things going from your perspective? Do you find that the download speeds are indicative of your overall internet speed, and if you're working with a slow connection, what's your experience been like overall? Have you found it as difficult as me to keep up with some of these 100GB+ games that just take ages to install?

Also, is there anything you'd like to see Xbox improve in this area? I'm personally really glad to see Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 shipping with a much smaller footprint, and it's nice to see that the ability to pre-download updates was integrated into the September 2024 Xbox update. But what else still needs to be done in your opinion?
