Last year, we highlighted how 2021 was a great year for indie games on Xbox Game Pass (and Xbox in general), and 2022 is very much following that trend once again. We've been playing tons of them this year and having a blast.
On Game Pass alone, the selection is endless. Games like Death's Door, Nobody Saves The World, Tunic, Trek to Yomi, TNMT: Shredder's Revenge, As Dusk Falls, PowerWash Simulator and much more have been keeping us captivated — two of those games even came second and third in our GOTY poll earlier this week!
But even outside of Game Pass, we've been enjoying plenty of indies as well. Arcade Paradise is a fantastic simulation game that launched earlier this month, Soundfall is an underappreciated music-based dungeon crawler that we've been enjoying a lot, Cult of the Lamb has been getting rave reviews, Who's Your Daddy?! is still one of the most popular games on Xbox right now - and there are many other titles we could talk about.
So with all that said, we're interested to know your favourite indie games of 2022 so far. We've included a selection of them in the poll below, but it's by no means exhaustive - let us know more down in the comments section below!

Shredder’s Revenge without a doubt takes the top spot for me.
Death's Door came out in 2021 right?
Death’s Door was 2021, wasn’t it?
Edit: Jinx!
Is two point campus an indie? I mean hospital sure but two point is owned by Sega now..
Shredder’s Revenge will mop up this list. Other best indies for me: Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course, Rollerdrome, Azure Striker Gunvolt 3, Elechead, Infernax, Two Point Campus, Tunic, and Freshly Frosted. Death’s Door is a 2021 title. I don’t really consider Shredder’s Revenge or Two Point Campus indie titles, but they’re both great anyway, so happy to recommend them.
Shredders revenge and tunic aren't my type of games, haven't played Cult of the lamb yet so for me until now As Dusk Falls takes the crown. A game I absolutely loved
Since Death’s Door was 2021, I have to go with Cult of the Lamb. So good. But there’s been a ton of great indies this year.
I only have tried 3 ones, but As Dusk Falls makes it for me! I loved the art style they choose for this one and the story got me hooked right from the start. A great, great game, I hope more people find it interesting because the devs sure did a great job on that one.
Shredder's Revenge, it is good, I liked it a lot, but I found it a little "lightweight" in the gameplay department (unless I miss something, of course).
I only tried Tunic for a couple of hours. It doesn't look bad, but I wasn't hooked.
Looking forward to play Trek To Yomi and Cult of the Lamb next.
As dusk falls for me... Gameplay pretty much non-existent. But got hooked on the story and looked forward doing an episode each night. One of the biggest surprises of the year for me as I had zero expectations on liking it.
@GalacticBreakdown @awp69 You're right, of course it was! I got confused with it being added to Game Pass this year 🤦♂️
@Royalblues Yes, we reviewed Rogue Legacy 2, it just slipped my mind when putting the poll together:

We're missing Escape Academy and Road 96 which have both been major highlights for me.
Currently weirdly obsessed with Powerwash Simulator - need to get back to finishing As Dusk Falls too...
I don't play indie games, there not proper games. I wish Microsoft would stop putting so many Indie games onto Game Pass. Game Pass should be called Indie Pass because they put more Indie games on there than proper games.
Indie games aren’t “proper games”. Wow. Just wow. Some people are missing some of the best experiences in gaming. And, yes, it is GAMING. Their loss.
In a year where AAA has been pretty shocking, the indies I feel have shone brightly in comparison. Titles like Cult Of The Lamb, Neon White, Tunic, Norco, Freshly Frosted, Shredders Revenge, Rogue Legacy 2 and Stray (amongst others!) have all come out to extremely positive reception from critics and gamers alike. And we still have games like Bloody Hell Hotel to come! The Game Awards Indie category could easily consist of a 10 game shortlist this year, sad knowing that won't be the case and some great games will get snubbed.
Lots to enjoy but Deaths Door & Tunic stand out.
