It's time for the weekend! Now might be the perfect time to check out Spyro Reignited Trilogy on Xbox Game Pass, and we've also got a bunch of Free Play Days titles (including the incredible Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth) alongside a whole heap of great deals as part of the Xbox Black Friday Sale 2024.
Here's what we're playing this weekend:

I'm going to be handling the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 review here at Pure Xbox, so I downloaded the old one again recently to refresh my memory. I loved it a few years ago, but I've pretty much forgotten how to even take-off (!), so I'm going to spend a bunch of my weekend flying around the globe ahead of next week's new launch.
Aside from that, I've been playing quite a lot of NBA 2K23 recently, which I found very cheap at a local store earlier in the month - so that's probably on the list. And, having bought a Switch OLED back in October, I'm still going to be playing that, desperately trying to catch up on seven years' worth of Nintendo history in one go.
Have a good weekend, folks!

My gaming plans for this weekend are pretty simple: they include walking from Point A to Point B, then back again. Yep, Death Stranding is what I’ll be up to for most of my console time. To be fair, that time is quite limited because I’m obsessed with Slow Horses on Apple+. I’ve binge-watched three seasons this week, and now I’m ready for the fourth.
Outside of trotting along with Sam and eating noodles with Lamb, I reckon I’ll hop back on Fallout 76. I’ve had a bit of fun in Appalachia, so we’ll see what turns up during my Wasteland ventures.
Happy gaming, folks!
What are you playing on Xbox this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

Star Wars Outlaws. Really enjoying it, even if it is a slightly janky Assassin's Creed: Star Wars. Good fun and good atmosphere so I'm sticking with that.
The finals ranked, month left on the season.
Should be able to get to platinum. Solo queue is crazy though
This weekend I'm continuing to play Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door on Switch, I think I'll be able to beat it in just a few more sessions.
Xbox: Jumping between Hellblade 1 and South Park The Fractured But Whole while I'm waiting for Flight Sim 24 and Stalker 2 next week.
Oooh. And maybe some Infinite Wealth. Thanks for the tip!
Switch: Sidequesting TotK.
PS5: Nothing as I just platted Dragon Age Veilguard. That game has gotten way too harsh responses online. It's a good game and I especially loved the companion quests and rewarding exploration. I'd rate it an 8. Act 3 is a 10 though, great ending!
Tried Forza Motorsport for a couple of hours, hoping it would have been better by now. Unfortunately it still doesn’t come close to Gran Turismo 7 (yet). The single player campaign is just so repetitive and it never gives me that next gen feeling GT7 does.
Instead started playing Cocoon, such an inventive and addictive little game! You can feel the sheer passion of the makers in every level. I do need some online help every now and then, but it’s still very rewarding figuring out most of the puzzles.
Heading off to Skellige in Witcher 3, alongside gaining some side quest power points to start Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts in DA Inquisition.
Did have a go at Origins a few days ago after hearing so much positivity around its storytelling etc. Doesn’t do it for me unfortunately - dialogue feels stilted, combat is clunky and the overall experience IMO is very 2010s.
Am curious about dipping into Veilguard via EA Play Pro, even if only to experience the combat and environments. Keep telling myself to invest more in Witcher 3 and Inquisition first though.
Max Mustard VR - finished and platinumed. Enjoyed it, even if its not perfect and really makes me want Astro in VR its worth checking out!
HZD remaster - Im really enjoying playing through this gorgeous game again. Love it! Still makes my jaw drop at times and I find myself just standing still and enjoying the views.
CoD Blops 6 - enjoying the campaign. As campaigns go its the best since the 2019 MW reboot but not as good as the old MW 1-3 or some of the other older campaigns imo. Still, maybe theres hope for future CoD campaigns 🙂
A little Mass Effect 1 (this time as a Renegade), and Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania. I still can't believe there wasn't even one article on the site about it. 😭
Still on with Veilguard on Series X. I’m a bit of an early bird, so I often do a side quest or two before I go to work, but I’ve saved the story quests and the companion quests for the weekend. I’m still pretty early into Act 2. Having a lot of fun, it was nice to bump into my old DA2 flame Isabela!
Playing through the first Spyro before moving into 2 and 3. In between that I have been playing Asterix on the Master System!
I have to work, but Dragon Quest 3 will be started this weekend, and that… realistically could be the last game I finish this year, honestly (pending a certain trio of Xbox titles, of course)
I think i am nearly finished with Dragon Age: Veilguard given that I am tying up all the companion quests before what i believe is the final msq push.
Generally I have had a fantastic time with this game & agree with @BIG3 folks are judging it harshly. Seemingly based on a few quest topics that don't align with their own thoughts or belief & then ignoring everything else the game offers.
Also gone back into Dying Light 2 to finally do a new game plus run. Lots of changes to get used to & its still fun to kick zombies off roofs so all good.
Will probably park DL2 the second Stalker 2 drops though, cant wait.
Alright. I’m just going to say it. I’m still playing Dragon Age: Veilguard, and I think it is one of BioWare’s best games. I’m roughly 96-hours deep, halfway through Act 2, and I’m wrapping up companion and faction quests. I’ve collected nearly every single Memento and codex entry—and I’ve read them all.
And also, for those on the fence, please don’t listen to people that say this game is “woke” or whatever kind of agenda. There is only about two minutes worth of cutscenes—out of an 70+ hour RPG—that talks about “gender”, and it’s handled well aside from a few word choices. And fun fact, these types of issues have been present in the Dragon Age universe from the very beginning. Speaking of, the lore in this game is incredible, with tons of references to Origins and its historicity to discover in texts, notes, and just the environment itself.
Moreover, once you get to Act 2, or at the very least the main story decision that has implications, the writing becomes peak BioWare—if you invest the time to seek out conversations with your party members. It’s not just dialogue options, it’s the banter between various party members and how different their personalities shine through while exploring. And the quest line for Solas and discovering his memories and discussing them with your party at the table is some of the best writing BioWare has done.
I also like the way the story is handled with your choices and consequences. Without spoiling too much, some of my story decisions have already had great repercussions—some good and bad—and have even presented themselves in side quests, in surprising ways. But I’m also weird. I don’t always need my decisions to make a long lasting impact. Sometimes, it’s simply the moment itself that I need. Those choices I feel the weight of because it makes me think, regardless as to whether or not it affects the overall narrative.
There is so much I could say about this game and why it’s brilliant. And why people should ignore the negative discourse surrounding the game, particularly with its political agendas. Just play the game if you are interested. I think I have to agree wholeheartedly with Eurogamer and WhatCulture’s review on the game. It really is special, and as advertising as it sounds, it is a return to form for BioWare.
Playing through Halo 2 again, with some multiplayer mixed in. RE4 on the PS5 Pro.
Still playing Dragon Age veilguard and enjoying it a lot. Been difficult to see the 'wokeness' that offended people so much, and though the writting is variable, it's decent enough in places and mainly serves its purpose. I had thought it was a 7 game, but as I continue through it it's becoming an 8 for me.
Also looking to jump back into Crew Motor Fest as there's a whole new island to explore and I really enjoyed it.
What ever you are playing this weekend, I hope you have fun!
@Kraven
Thanks for writing this.
I was on the fence(for reasons other than the ones most people seem to have) but after that write-up, I honestly might end up getting it.
Back into Remnant 2 for the first time since the last expansion came out. I normally only played it Thursday nights with my friends, but the new expansion came with new systems that I want to be ready for, so I'm playing some solo getting my character ready.
Also going through Metal Slug Tactics, and some Diablo 4 with friends.
Just finished Persona 5 Tactica yesterday and loved it, although the last 3-4 hours are a little bit repetitive.
Now I'll continue my journey through Ni No Kuni 1 and will try to pick another game to start.
Playing some Black Ops 6 and Morrowind
I'll be playing black ops 6 multiplayer all weekend while I'm gaming and just so my pals here know the assault rifles where ruined in the last update don't use them smg guns have far more range at the moment something went wrong with the update!
@Kraven Thanks for this insight! The game had totally gone past me and I also don’t know the series, but after reading this and watching some videos I’ll definitely play it.
I finished sea of stars! It was great! And now i started the Spyro the dragon trilogy. It's super fun!
Just finished all 3 dragon age games+dlc and about to start Veilguard.
On PS5- Horizon FW. Loving every second of it and I’m halfway through.
On xCloud- finished Black Ops 6 (liked it a lot). Now jumping between Forza Motorsport and Horizon 5, killing time before Stalker 2 hits.
Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival came out, so I'm off the wagon again. Someone decided it was a good idea to make it Steam Deck verified, which doesn't help matters.
Other than that I'm still hooked on Helldivers 2 and am about 6-7 hours into Fire Emblem: Engage.
My current go-to game is Dragon Age The Veilguard. I’m about 25 hours in and really enjoying it. I’m using a warrior build, and will probably lean into the Champion spec once I hit level 20. Also playing Forza Motorsport, and Thronefall on Switch. I’m not starting any other games right now as next week I’ll be playing MFS 2024 and Stalker 2 (which reminds me, I need to clear some space on my Xbox 😂)
Metal Slug Tactics on gamepass and Mario and Luigi Brothership
Warhammer Boltgun
I beat Batman: Arkham Shadow (amazing) on Wednesday, and then CoD: Black Ops 6 (good) on Thursday.
Last night I beat Down the Rabbit Hole. It was okay. It was worth the 2 hours it took considering it was free, but I wouldn't really recommend it. This morning I played another level of Doom: Legacy of Rust which I'm continuing to enjoy. Most of my gaming time this weekend will be spent on Mario & Luigi: Brothership. It's alright so far.
Shadow generations, starfield shattered space and I will be starting dragon quest 3
Lost a companion in Dragon Age The Veilguard, and I still haven't finished the final mission. I'm taking the time to process a certain scene with a certain character.
Dungeons of Hinterberg - Pretty chill circa-2005 Zelda game. Puzzles could be harder but the dungeon variety and story push you through.
Journey to the Savage Planet - Love the FPS metroidvania concept. Nice length and pretty fun exploration game - underrated. Like High on Life + Subnautica + Supraland.
I've finally completed Yakuza Like a Dragon, so onwards to Like a Dragon Gaiden (so far it's incredible)!
Got caught in Jurassic World Evolution 2 for a spell, but back to Classified France '44. I got a chick in the crew now 😂! After I beat supply defense level.
There's this level where you have to plant explosives on an important bridge. I snuck around the Nazi guard, planted the bomb, and got off the bridge. I was then spotted, and the firefight began.
The AI usually is good at avoiding timed explosives. I'm looking at the Nazi guy on the bridge. He's still standing RIGHT in the blast zone, aiming at me! BOOOOOOOM 😂😂!!!!! All that was left was smoke billowing from broken bridge 😂!
Mario party jamboree, Mario and Luigi Brothership, on xbox expedition a mudrunner game.
@DEATH2SONY JWE2 is another game that's like crack for me. 195 hours so far 😭
@Darude84 100% agreed.
I love my SeriesX (and FH4, a lot), and wanted to love Forza Motorsport.
But man, though it has solid core physics and handling, everything else about it is so boring and ordinary and run of the mill. Nothing about it feels special or exciting or next gen. The progression and upgrade system is horrible too.
In fact, that was the game that prompted me to get a PS5 and GT7, and I wasn't disappointed.
I love GT7. In contrast, everything about it feels special and charming. There's so much to do, so many different modes and events, and a better variety of tracks. The visuals are great, the attention to detail is second to none, it's uniquely stylish and charming, and IMO the best Gran Turismo since GT1 by far.
World of Warcraft (PC) Working on alts and anniversary dailies
Stardew Valley (Series X) Started a new farm with my son.
Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines (PC) Never played this game but always heard good things about it. Looking forward to it
@Markatron84 It's my go to "break" game, when I'm taking a break from a game that's frustrating me 🙂. Its the ultimate chill out game 😂! If you got all the Dinosaurs needs met, set the jeep on auto-check, you can multi-task while playing 😂! Check your phone, while the scientists are researching something, grab some water out the fridge!
@Titntin
Well maybe a bit of a strange combination but I have never seen Dolby Atmos and the bigger one Dolby Vision gaming look this good of course through a Series X as in the Sony A95L.
It just seems strange to me but shouldn’t that it’s a Sony TV that makes Xbox Dolby Vision in Game mode actually work correctly and beautiful on Series X.
Microsoft Wordament (Android) - This is all I'm working this weekend.
I have family coming over to watch the 111th Grey Cup tomorrow.
A little disappointed about the Jonas dudes doing the halftime show, but I digress...
GO ARGOS!!!!!
Just started the Mass Effect Trilogy, yet again. Honestly, started yesterday.
Recently completed the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster, so followed up with Forbidden West.
Next, I will pick up Veilguard (Series X) come payday, in two weeks time.
Playing (by recent playing time)

Well here we go with another crazy WAYP. Been a awesome week around here. The week was full of games like Metaphor and Black Ops 6 and was a lot of fun like very very fun the progress I’m making has me quite happy. Got to dig into Mario And Luigi Brothership and Dragon Age The Veilguard and both were quite excellent probably some GOTY contenders there no lie. Most of the weekend was spent with Emio and Visions of Mana. Yeah I’m trying to get back to Visions of Mana and Star Wars Outlaws and the like before GOTY season really gets into gear. Rest of the weekend I’m thinking is gonna be some YS X Nordics that game seriously continues to impress and wow. Otherwise I’m thinking this week is mostly gonna consist of some Zelda, Trails Through Daybreak, Emio, Dawntrail, Metaphor, Tekken 8 for that platinum, Mario Party, Brothership, Eiyuden Chronicles Hundred Heroes, Visions of Mana and yeah Star Wars Outlaws. Think I’ll maybe pick up that Lego Horizon Adventures and that Tekken 8 stage too. The wrestling things this week being AEW Full Gear which I’ve been invited to watch with some buddies. Stands to be some cool matches like Swerve Vs Bobby and Jon Moxley Versus Orange Cassidy. Also those Costco Guys on the pre show should be excited. Anime of the week gotta go to and Dragon Ball Daima and Ranma 1/2. Yeah only two picks this week but that’s because of that Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight I was more watching that this week actually. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Last Stand Media, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling, Weapon Wheel Podcast and Remap Radio. As always yall stay safe, be awesome to each other. Have a totally awesome weekend and of course Happy Gaming.
Was feeling a bit under the weather this weekend 🤒, so I just chilled out playing a lot of Black Ops Multiplayer and Warzone.
Classified France '44, I blew up a Nazi bomber plane in a hanger, and two fighter planes. Then I had to hightail it out of there, as an elite GESATAPO squad stormed the grid 😂. Dark, shadowy figures.Im guessing that's my end boss 😂. The Chick is wounded, she goes to the hospital.
