It's time for the weekend! If you're looking for things to do over the next couple of days, we've got plenty of new Xbox Game Pass titles, various new releases including AEW: Fight Forever and Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, and another massive range of deals on the Xbox Store for hundreds of great games.
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Fraser Gilbert, Editor
Following our review of AEW: Fight Forever this week, I'm keen to continue playing more of the Road to Elite career mode as well as plenty of online matches, and I might even dip back into WWE 2K23 alongside it — let's just make it a wrestling-filled weekend! Wrestling Empire is waiting for me on the Switch as well...
I'm also keen to get back into FIFA 23 on Xbox Game Pass this weekend due to the new Women's World Cup mode that's just been added. I don't really like FIFA 23's gameplay all that much, but I'm planning on tinkering with the very popular Operation Sports Community Sliders to see if I can get it playing more realistically than the default settings.
Have a good weekend, folks!

Ahoy folks! I’ll be honest, I’m having a tough time keeping away from Final Fantasy XVI on the PS5. However, this weekend I’ll be travelling to the Lands Between. Aye, it’s an Elden Ring weekend for me!
I decided that having a Steam version of the game wasn’t good enough and purchased my second copy of “tarnished pain simulator”, this time for Xbox - I’m in it for the cheevos!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend. Happy gaming!

Okay, so the thing is… I’m not going to be playing a great deal of Xbox this weekend due to a little game called Final Fantasy XVI. It’s good, folks. Like, real good. That said, I’ve been slowly plugging away at Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain over the last month or so, so I might jump back in if I get the chance. It’s a good one to dive back into from time to time, complete a few missions, fulton a few goats, the usual.
What Xbox games are you playing this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

On PS5 i will mainly be playing Final Fantasy 16 which so far has been great. I will also be playing some Dragon Quest Heroes 2.
On Switch I will be starting Master Detective Archives later today with my sexy new pastel joy con's and also hope to complete Kirby Return to Dreamland this weekend. Also my Collectors edition Zelda TOTK strategy guide got delivered yesterday so I will be continuing with that at some point.
I've recently been on a buying spree for 3DS games before they all go super rare, I must have spent over £500 on 30 games over the the last two weeks, so I think it's time I started playing them lol, I think il start with Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton
This weekend I’m taking a break from Diablo IV and putting in some quality hours in Final Fantasy XVI on the PS5.
So far, the game is excellent. The voice acting is top notch and brings the characters to life. Clive Rosfield and Cid are genuinely deep characters and some of the best in the entire series. And the story is fantastic as well, and well told. It’s dark and twisted, but people seem to forget that FFIV and FFVI are quite similar in nature.
At the moment, I have a love hate relationship with the action. This is certainly a proper FF game through and through with “random” enemy encounters, albeit not turn based. Combat is fast, kinetic, but also as monotone or deep as you want it to be, which is great. With that said, sometimes it’s hard to actually see what’s happening - the vibrant colors overcrowd the screen and it’s hard for me to grasp what’s happening until it’s too late.
Keeping in line with RPGs, I downloaded and purchased Rogue Galaxy. It’s a game I sadly never got the chance to play in the PS2 era even though I’ve always wanted to. I’ve heard nothing but positive things about the game, so I’m looking forward to diving into that this weekend.
XSX Diablo 4, Bramble the mountain king, and Army of ruin
PS5 Evil west
Switch Zelda TOTK and Pikmin 4 demo.
Continue Diablo IV, as I still haven't finished the campaign. Being an adult sucks...
Then sprinkle in some Fight Forever with my son for a change of pace.
Evil Dead, as it's a double xp week, and trying to finish Far Cry 4, I've been chipping away at it for a very long time
I’m taking a break and relaxing for 2 weeks. Have loads to play.
Last night I played some halo online for the first time in over a year…getting into a game still takes far longer than any cod but some welcome improvements have been made to it since I last played. Also, it’s easy to forget just how nice looking that game is.
Playing through …
Zelda Tears of the kingdom
Planet of Lana
Planning on going back to…
God of war Ragnarok
Spiderman miles morales
Elden ring
For me it's Shadow of the Tomb Raider on XSX (which rocks, by the way) and on Switch it's Persona 3. Especially Tomb Raider is, like, the perfect game to play in the summer. Have a good one guys and gals!
On xbox hope to close out F.I.S.T.. Definitely enjoying that one. One PS more Rogue Legacy 2 and Inscryption - both as good as advertised.
Still on Zelda TOTK, happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadian xbox supporter.
Nothing, I'll be out house hunting- interest rates are nuts in UK...
SWITCH
Sonic Origins (Plus) - making my way through the Game Gear games. They're... okay, so far.
Fire Emblem (GBA NSO) - continuing my way through this one. It's actually great fun!
3DS
Hey! Pikmin - getting this one out of the way before I play the main series games lol.
PS5
GTA Online - multiplayer with friends later tonight.
Atomic Heart - continuing on with this game, I'm actually enjoying it so far!
PC
Pizza Tower - just snagged this one through the Steam summer sale, I've heard very good things about it!
Have a good weekend everyone!
Deathloop and might also continue with midnight suns.
I'll be playing Final Fantasy 16 most of the weekend loving it so far. I'm really just waiting for Starfield now on Xbox but if I've got time I'll try and finish Metro Last Light.
Series X - Currently playing F.E.A.R. which is so much fun. I'm considering picking up Dead Space remake next week.
PS5 - Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2
This weekend I'm playing Bramble: The Mountain King, which is pretty interesting so far. It's very atmospheric. That's about all it is really. I'm also still playing through Bayonetta 3 on Switch, but it's not holding my attention nearly as much as the prior 2 games.
@UltimateOtaku91 I've noticed here in the States that prices are finally beginning to come back to the earth's atmosphere on 3DS games. AND, most importantly, hard to find titles are finding their way back to retro games retail places I frequent. There is hope! I thought it would happen. FOMO was crazy and people spent more than they should. Now they are broke and need to sell!
I started my first games in Battlefield 2024. I had a really good time slaughtering strangers over a few barrels of oil into the wee hours last night. It's been a minute since I've played a BF.
On the switch I'm going hard into Kirby Tilt and Tumble on their live service. I'll be away from home so I may get into an old Sega rpg like Shining Force or one of the new ones.
Ghost Trick, Street Fighter 6, WWE 2K23, and Disney Dreamlight Valley.
Grabbed The Callisto Protocol in the sale, so I'll probably start that after finishing off my replay of Bioshock 2. Bramble looks cool as far as short adventure experiences go, might try that too.
@Cashews I'm definitely one of those that spent more than they should lol but yet to be broke.... Yet
I think the most expensive one I bought was Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton which was £80, Persona Q 2 cost me £68, Fire Emblem Echoes Shadow of Valentia £44.
I want yo kai watch 3 but the cheapest I've seen it is £140, and then Shin Megami Tensei 4 is going for £200. But I refuse to pay over £100 for a 3DS game.
I still don't know if I should sell a game once I've completed it or keep them for a few years to see if their prices rocket further (UK anyway).
My car had a "date" with my car mechanic, so my wallet has a giant hole in it and I'm afraid I won't be able to play anything new this weekend lol!
Replaying San Andreas in switch. The collection is a bit rough, but I’m having fun in spite of it
@UltimateOtaku91 I bought a lot of those before the eshop closed down. I prefer them in physical but I knew I'd never find Yo Kai Watch for a decent price - if at all. It's a cool little game. The only problem with it is the game has these odd ramp ups in difficulty and stress gameplay all of a sudden that takes away from the experience imo. I don't mind hard gameplay but it just feels like it's out of nowhere.
Still working my way through the halo games. Playing through Halo 3 currently.
I’m playing Final Fantasy XV and loving it. VIII is one of my all time favourite games and the only FF I’ve finished. Definitely see myself finishing XV, it totally won me over.
I started previous GWG offering Adios this morning over coffee, and plan to complete it over coffee tomorrow morning. It is chill and thoughtful, at least so far, nice over morning coffee. I may play some Diablo 4 this weekend or check out FIST or Bramble
Angry Birds Rio (Window Phone) - I was jonesing for some Angry Birds action, this will fit nicely.
Imperia Online (Windows Phone) - Still grinding this out...
Happy Canada Day fellow Canadians!!!
Street Fighter 6 (PS5, Xbox Series X), Final Fantasy XVI (PS5) and AEW: Fight Forever (XSX).
F.I.S.T and maybe start bramble:the mountain king
That is what i will be playing this weekend
Aew on switch. I might get back into diablo 3 on switch. On xbox, I might start skyrim or chicory.
Aliens: Dark Descent on XBX. It's been really good so far, three missions in. Escape Simulator on GFN.
Marvel's Midnight Suns was 20 quid in the Steam summer sale so I picked that up. Played 2 hours last night and immediately spent another £27 on the season pass. I am 100% on board with this game.
Not sure about everyone else but I'm really struggling to get into games atm. Nothing seems to be grabbing my attention, got some personal things going on atm too. Just gaming doesn't seem to be doing it for me atm
Wont get much time to play but Assassins Creed 1 on the steam deck while I spend the weekend camping. I have emulation set up on the deck too so I will probably play some other oldies.
@lechugajr
Finished Inscryption a few days ago. It's really, really good.
AEW Fight Forever and cleaning up Bikini Bottom in Power Wash Simulator.
This weekend I will once again dive further into Final Fantasy XVI on PS5 if I have the time. I'll be at Dokomi in Germany so probably won't have much time to turn on my PS5 at home in the Netherlands at all. Instead it's more likely I'll turn on my Switch and start Master Detective: Rain Code instead. Either way it will be a great weekend. Happy gaming!
@Markatron84 that was my thiught exactly . Loved the game for the first 20hs.
Unfortunately it drags quite a lot. I'm 60hs and still hasn't finished jt.
Hope u enjoy it though
PS5: HFW
XSX: Chained Echoes
Switch: Metroid Prime Remastered
Diablo 4. Diablo 4. Diablo 4. Diablo 4. Diablo 4.
Cities Skyline
Redfall and GoW Ragnarok
Mainly TofK, hard to have another story-based game besides Zelda but I’ve also been playing some NFS Unbound in shorter sessions
@Sol4ris Good luck mate, not easy atm. I'm really lucky that I fixed mine at 2.05% for 5 years just before they started going up.
6 years left and Im paid up (only cause they wouldnt mortgage me till retirement at 67 😊)
Im 36 hours into FF16 and loving it. I have auto dodge on in the world (old man = slower reactions), but fight the boss batles without that.
Theres a couple of gp titles Id like to take a look at if I can find some time!
Super Meat Boy and Kingdoms of Amalur. Both beat fri and sat. Jedi Academy on og xbox next
@FraserG Sorry for off topic but did you go to either of the Wwe shows over the weekend? Seeing 2k23 advertised so much I really want to play it now lol
@Titntin
Thank you Sir.
Good luck mate, not easy atm. I'm really lucky that I fixed mine at 2.05% for 5 years just before they started going up
That's fantastic, our offer is at 4.33% and still trying to pretend it's not totally terrible 😀.
Im 36 hours into FF16 and loving it
I'll definitely have to give that a go at some point(waiting on a sale😁), watched the DF video and it looks great.
Right this weekends kinda simple. Had a early shift of work and now a later shift of work so gamings kinda all over the place hahaha. Beat Metroid Prime last week. Thought it was pretty great. That makes this weekends game Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe. I beat the main story on it and I think all I have to do is just one more boss in Magolors Epilogue. Excellent game and excited to move on to the next game in my chronological Nintendo backlog: my GOTY Bayonetta Origins. Simply loving it. Over on the PS5 I do have one specific game I’m hoping to beat the story of soon. Doing that and getting to delete it would free up so much storage for me hahaha. I also got Tunic on there this week so I wanna check that out. Tho who am I kidding I’m glued to FFXVI that game is absolutely amazing in every form I know I’m still at the beginning but I’ve loved every character they’ve put in front of me it’s great. As for the anime front I’m still working on finishing up my spring animes. So far I’ve finished Yuri is my Job, Rokudos Bad Girls, The Marginal Service and Hells Paradise. Why just today alone I wanna do a hat trick and finish My Home Hero, Yamada Kun, and Mashle. Then I’ll only have my continuing Spring anime like Gundam Witch and some other new ones like Cafè Terrace to finish up before starting some excellent Summer ones like Atelier Ryza. Man that one makes me wanna get back into Ryza 3. Otherwise I’m looking to pick up a copy of Ghost Trick for me and a friend and impatiently wait for my special edition or Rain Code to come July 18th because of the Customs delay 😤. Hope everyone has a great weekend and Happy Gaming to all.
Diablo 4 and Cyberpunk 2077. 😎
Diablo IV and maybe the new NFS since it's finally on Pass
Soul Hackers 2 and been replaying the Halo series. Reach, Combat Evolved and Halo 2 done. Probably wont start on 3 for a day or so but Soul Hackers has been very enjoyable so far.
