The first week of the year is always a challenging one when you're back to work or school, but it's finally over now (for some of us at least)! We've got a couple of days to kick back and relax with some Xbox games, including some recent Xbox Game Pass additions along with a great new "Last Chance" sale on the Xbox Store.
Here's what we're playing this weekend:

All I want to do is play Baldur's Gate 3 at the moment, but I'm too nervous to go anywhere near it until the issue with deleted save games is 100% fixed. It's incredible, but I don't think I'd go back to it if I lost over 10 hours of progress.
Perhaps this is a good opportunity for me to try Hell Let Loose on Xbox Game Pass for the first time, as well as dig into my backlog to keep progressing through the likes of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. I've also been eyeing up Disco Elysium in the Xbox Sale, so I might end up buying that!
Have a good weekend, folks.

I’m anticipating a bit of a quieter year for Xbox after a stellar 2023 (but by all means Microsoft go off!) so I’ve got a plan to dive into older Xbox games and franchises I haven’t touched before. First on my list of games to play is Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair. I’ve heard a lot about how great it is, so I guess I’m gonna mess around and find out this weekend.
Normally, I’m not much of a CoD bro (and I’d still say I’m not) but I find myself squadding up with a friend to drop into Call of Duty Modern Warfare III’s Zombie mode a fair bit. I didn’t play MWII, so I’m not sure if it influences the enjoyment factor of the Warzone open-world direction Zombies has gone in, but either way I’m having a lot of fun chilling out and popping zombles.
Oh, I’m also playing the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown for review footage this weekend. So I’m keen to get my hands on that!
Happy gaming, PX Gang!

I played a bit of Assassin’s Creed Mirage shortly after Christmas, and oh dear, I really didn’t enjoy it. I’ve played every mainline Assassin’s Creed game and I absolutely adore the franchise, but I felt like Ubisoft dropped the ball with this one. So, I went back and booted up The Ezio Collection to replay Assassin’s Creed II. Man, that’s a good one. Venice, here I come.
What will you be playing on Xbox this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

It's -30c where I live so I'll be gaming a lot this weekend.
PS5: Alan Wake 2
Switch OLED: Zelda TotK
Series X: Baldur's Gate 3
Recently finished:
1. Super Mario Wonder
Such a fantastic and fun game. Played it coop with the missus. Had a great time. Many of the levels had a "wow" factor I found entertaining.
2. Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty
Unlocked all the endings and I must say, what a great game and DLC it is. Played Cyberpunk at release and hated it (even though I reached one ending) but now, the 2.0 version is another game completely and the DLC adds so much too it. I highly recommend this game even though it is a bit depressing.
Have a good weekend everybody.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon. Hooked with the game. Currently trying to boost my Personality stats which is a little tedious but great game.
I've tried Hell Let Loose and it was alright, need to play it with my headset next time but it's very intense.
I'm still also working my way through the last game in The Ezio Collection of AC: Revelations, I think I'm about half way through the game now.
Playing some Tribes of Midgard this weekend with my wife. Interesting game almost quit as we couldn’t work it out but then it clicked and we played for 3 hrs.
I might get some Halo in but I’ve been trying to be a bit more sociable.
I just started Ace Attorney on the phone with touch control and Planet of Lana on the Xbox. I'm going to likely put some more time into one of those. Maybe a few rounds of Halo with the guys, the now modes are fantastic.
Finished Cocoon. Great game. Next stop is Divinity: Original Sin.
The last weekend of a very pleasant fortnight off work and after 100-odd hours I’m on the final battle in Baldur’s Gate 3. Once I’ve finished I’ll play either Chants of Sennaar or Little Goody Two Shoes, both of which I bought in the countdown sale.
Guitar Hero 3, maybe a bit of Street Fighter 6, and a splash of Pokemon The Indigo Disk.
Mopping up a few achievements in The Crew before the servers close and playing Final Fantasy XIII on the Steamdeck. I always intend to play Final Fantasy games but end up dropping them after few hours and never coming back. This is the year where I get a few played to completion, hopefully.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - Chapter 6, I think? Playing in bursts here and there.
Real Soccer 2013 (Windows Phone) - Still trying to get used to soccer on a touch screen.
Angry Birds Rio (Windows Phone) - Going back to 3 star all the levels I can.
Played some WWZ: Aftermath with the guys last night. Getting back into the swing of how that one works. My buddy kept thinking of how Back 4 Blood works instead of the game we were actually playing lol.. Also playing Spider-Man 2. I think I'm maybe about 1/3 of the way through it.
Revisited FFVII Remake last night and wondering why I got sidetracked months ago. Great game. Incredibly cinematic as you'd expect, but the characters are cool and the combat is fun.
I don’t have a plan at the moment so it will be a random gaming weekend… I hope to get stuck into a RPG though… maybe take another go at the original Fable
Replaying a couple old gems on pc (diablo 1 and Assassins Creed Revelations).
Also have first playthroughs of Forspoken (ps5) and Dying Light 2 (xbx) going that I can work on.
Lately, I’ve been in a gaming slump — nothing in the current zeitgeist has been holding my attention (and I’ve already played the majority of high quality releases from 2023). However; the big news for me this weekend is that I managed to snag a PlayStation Portal at my local GameStop! They had one left, which was very shocking. Online it said they had zero stock, but I called them and got a different response, so maybe that’s a good tip for those still trying to find one.
The PP is essentially going to be my RPG machine, especially while I watch the NBA and NFL. For me, it’s a niche product that is very suitable to my needs. As I stated earlier, I’ve been in a slump, with modern games not really keeping me entertained. Currently, I’m playing Mass Effect (The Legendary Edition) for the billionth time — this go around I’m doing an “Insanity” playthrough. It feels like a dream playing this franchise on a handheld device. And playing ME again reminds me how special this franchise is, and how even to this day there hasn’t been anything to replicate its space faring opera. Hopefully, I can obtain the platinum trophy.
Regarding my experience with the Portal — it has been fantastic. The device itself feels comfortable, and really durable. I have tested out a few games to see how it runs and I’ve had hardly zero issues, from Star Wars: Jedi Survivor to even Remnant 2. There are a few framerate dips here and there, but nothing too distracting. I did have one issue where my remote play kept on disconnecting, and the resolution dropped significantly. It turned out to be due to downloading and updating a game. Other than that, it performs better than expected.
I'm finishing Grounded on Xbox this weekend and playing X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse on SNES.
I actually purchased and completed Close To The Sun early in 2023, but it's still a nice addition to Game Pass nonetheless. The games I'm focused on this weekend are:
1. Submerged: Hidden Depths. Loved both games in this series, but still haven't fully finished this one.
2. Life Is Strange: Remastered Edition. Was midway through Episode Five when Starfield came out, so I think it's about time I finish up with this one as well.
Forza Motorsport
@Kraven Congrats mate. I have really enjoyed having a portal too.
Ive been playing midnight suns since picking it up cheap. Its a lot more rpg and fetch quests than I expected, but if you ignore the occasional flat writting, its suprisingly engaging, and the combat is fun.
Eludian chronicles has also had a good 12 hours out of me this week. Its carefree jrpging thats fun if you like that kind of thing, and I do!
If I feel a little more lively later, Im also enjoying Jedi Survivor.
Whatever your playing, I hope you enjoy!
Halo infinite campaign for me this weekend. Only playing in short bursts (1-2 hours max) but plodding along nicely.
Happy gaming everyone 👍👍
I finished the main story of Sonic Frontiers (yesterday) and now I'm enjoying Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Dry Twice (finished the first one on the Switch long time ago). Pretty fun adventure game.
El Paso, Elsewhere on the Series X and RE4 again on the PS5.
I'm tempted to buy Grand Theft Auto Trilogy for the Series X but I can't find a real answer online. googleFu, bingFu, Pure XboX forums, there's no answer that I have found.
If I buy the Physical Edition from Best Buy, Wal*Mart, Target, will the case contain a Disk/Disc or a Download Code?
If it is a Disk, I'll get it now, if it is a Code, I will wait for a sale!
If it is a Disk, are all the games on it, or does it require a download anyway?
updates or glitch fixes not counting...
Thank you all for your time and help and knowledge!
Spider-Kev
Chipping away at Texas chainsaw as nearly level 50. Re-downloaded apex legends and wow I suck at it now. Picked up few games last few weeks and guardians of galaxy being one that I might be next to start too. Enjoy weekend all
Been playing through TOEM for my daily achievement quest. Mostly Fortnite. Been having fun playing duos with friends. Also enjoying the Main Stage they added. Just beat the festival pass. Grinding the battle pass and I’m at almost 90.
On switch, Beat 1 run of Hades last night and I think I'm done. Going to start arkham asylum. On xbox, Psychonauts 2. I'd love to finish this week so I can start robocop.
Finally got around to finishing As Dusk Falls. What a great game it is. Also some Forza on Series S.
And Uncharted on the Vita.
This close to getting Robocop after everything I’ve read.
Started to play "Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin" after I bought it on amazing (new year sale) price drop.
Combat is not really on par with "Nioh 2" but still you just can not have enough.
So much fun...
Alrighty first WAYP of the year and it feels nice hahaha. For my weekend of gaming honestly it’s kinda a quiet one I went hard on some Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising yesterday and I’m loving that game so much. Loads of fun. As for today tho I’m thinking of tackling some Persona 5 Tactica and getting that first boss finally defeated. Lovely game really it’s just so slow. And after that maybe some more Fate Samurai Remnant or even some Baldurs Gate 3? I dunno until new games come out or until I tackle FFXIV Endwalker (currently scheduled for FEB 11.) I feel I’m just gonna go on like a 3 or 4 game rotation on Switch and PS5. Those games being Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince, Persona 5 Tactica, Star Ocean The Second Story R and Rain Code on Switch. And Fate Samurai/Remnant, Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, Baldurs Gate 3 and Assassins Creed Mirage on PS5. Oh and I wanna try out Dave The Diver on my day off this week so there’s that. Honestly this is that time of year where it really is just playing stuff you didn’t beat last year while waiting for the first big releases of this year. I even feel that way when it comes to the anime of the week this week. I finished some like 100 girlfriends that I really enjoyed but in terms of new stuff? Nothing is really out so far ima just shill for the continuing Mashle, Frieren and Shangri La Frontier. As for the podcasts of the week ya know it’s the usual: Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Minnmax, Into The Aether, Nextlander, RPGsites Tetracast, Windbreaker and Firelink from Second Wind and of course Remap Radio. Of course just because it’s a new year doesn’t mean we leave the homies behind ya know I gotta still give love to my friend over at twitch.tv/akibread. Otherwise yeah hopefully the rest of y’all are enjoying a nice relaxing January and let’s get hype for the big releases like Another Code, Tekken 8 and more. Have a good weekend yall and Happy Gaming.
