Pick One: Which Was Your Favourite Big Exclusive From Year-Two Of Xbox One?

Somehow it's been a whole decade since we were all settling in with our Xbox One consoles! Yep, this time 10 years ago, we were becoming well-accustomed to Xbox One. The year after a big console launch is always a tough one, but we thought Microsoft handled year-two of the Xbox One's lifespan very well indeed.

As we roll around to 2024, we've started to look back at how Xbox was faring 10 years ago. We have the Developer Direct on the horizon and that will surely bring great news on Xbox's 2024 lineup, but we reckon they'll have a tough time beating 2014!

Looking back, this was one of the very best years of Xbox One. Titanfall dropped in Q1 2014 to deliver one of the best multiplayer experiences of the generation, Playground Games really started to hit its stride with the fantastic Forza Horizon 2, oh, and Sunset Overdrive came out that fall. What a time to be an Xbox fan!

There were a couple of other big releases that year too, including Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Project Spark, so all-in-all it was just a great time to be playing on Xbox. After a pretty stellar launch lineup, the Xbox One generation got off to a great start - PR fumbles aside.

The question is, which big Xbox exclusive from that year did you like best? We're going to skip some of the smaller titles in this poll like LocoCycle, D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die and Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, but talking strictly AAA titles, which of these exclusives did you enjoy most?

Master Chief Collection easily, but I mean, it’s a collection of Bungie Halo games made a little bit prettier. Of course that’s the best one! The most fun I had on Xbox that year was with D4: Dark Dreams Don’t Die. That’s… an experience…

2014 was an overall weak year in my opinion. I remember it being a hard year for me to crown a GotY because I didn’t feel like anything truly deserved the title that year for me personally. I know I begrudgingly said Shovel Knight was my GotY that year and it didn’t feel like it was big enough for that.

I voted for MCC. I replayed every campaign, though did not touch the multiplayer at all. I enjoyed what I played of Sunset Overdrive, but I never actually finished it, I think I simply got bored of it. I played Titanfall 2, but opted to miss out on the first game as it was multiplayer only, and so didn't interest me. I had a pretty good time in FH2, though after a while, my interest in driving games diminishes and I move on to something else.

I never played any Kinect game as my Kinect never came out of the box (indeed, it remains in the box to this very day, somewhere up in the loft!).

Can't say I recall Project Spark at all. It's definitely not something that I played...

Sunset Overdrive easily. MCC ended up being good but was in a dire state during it's launch window. Plus I would pick a new game over a remaster any day.

I picked Titanfall me and my mate were stuck to the game for weeks straight great multiplayer

I have Forza Horizon 2 on disc but somehow missed out on downloading it for free when it was on Gold. Now that most of my physical collection is backed up by digital versions it's massively frustrating to not have it available to buy.

The MCC launched in such an awful state that I can’t vote for it. The online didn’t work at all for about a month or so. Huge disappointment.

I was between Forza Horizon 2 and Sunset Overdrive. Picked Horizon 2, but they were close.

I should’ve picked up Titanfall that year, but I instead picked up Destiny and Halo… which I didn’t enjoy and ended trading in both lol.

@__jamiie Same here. It’s the only Forza Horizon game I don’t own digitally. It’s not a big deal as I have a Series X but it still slightly annoys me lol.

Definitely the MCC for me. Sunset Overdrive seemed fun but it just wasn't for me.

@Altaria_97 I'm going to email Microsoft and see if I can get it.

I've had a subscription for many, many years. The have the game code ready to download for people who already had it.

Surely it can't be that hard for them to allow me to download it?

it seems like all i played on xbox one was minecraft and ark survival but im enjoying master chief collection rn.

My favorite game from 2014 was (don’t hate me) AC Unity. Not an xbox exclusive, but it ran better than PS4 at the time. The launch was disastrous, sure. But once ubisoft patched the glitches and “cinematic” features, it became a really enjoyable game. And AC Syndicate further improved on it gameplay wise.

A lotta rose tinted glasses here, for that first year of MCC. What a mess that was. Sunset was awesome, but Horizon 2 is my personal choice. It made me a believer in open world racers, and was darn fun, and the dlc was awesome.

Titanfall.

MCC would have been if, like everything else 343 does, it hasn't been released half hearted.

Progress and achievement issues galore. Coop didn't work right. And online, you might have not even tried playing because of the likelihood of a disconnect or desync issue.

Probably Titanfall - although I think of that more as 'year one' after all, the console was only a few months old when it released.

So really Sunset Overdrive is my 'year' two game but I voted for Titanfall just because I spent more time playing it in 2014 than ANY of the others by quite some margin but to me, its still a 'year 1' game....

Oh my gosh, Project Spark all the way! Nothing even comes close to the hours of joy given from exploring all the creations everybody made in that game. It was such a shame that the corporate shills at MS pulled the plug on it in 2016, but holy smokes it was a brilliant experience while it lasted.

I had completely forgot about Project Spark. I was PC gaming at the time. I downloaded it but never got around to messing with it. I decided to head to the local retro game store today and pick up a copy. It was supposed to be a bit like Nintendo's Game Builder Garage.
