With Back 4 Blood being the biggest Xbox release of the week, it's time to weigh in on how it ranks in the studio's catalogue.
Of course, the studio was previously known as Valve South and created the Left 4 Dead series, but they also worked on the Xbox port of Counter-Strike back in 2003. There's an established library of titles, including the underappreciated Evolve, so which is the best?
Let's take a look at what we're working with:
Counter-Strike (2003)
Counter-Strike, the popular online action game and first-person shooter for the PC, makes its console debut exclusively on Xbox and Xbox Live. Counter-Strike features single-player missions taking place over a grittily realistic counter-terrorist world and allows gamers to challenge other players in team-based multiplayer games on Xbox Live and System Link.
Left 4 Dead (2009)
Left 4 Dead™ is a game that casts up to four "Survivors" in an epic struggle against hordes of swarming zombies and terrifying "Boss Infected" mutants. Are you ready for the Zombie Apocalypse?
Evolve (2015)
Evolve is a true next generation multiplayer shooter featuring addictive adrenaline-pumping 4v1 action. One player-controlled monster must evade and outsmart a team of four uniquely skilled playable hunters. With endless combinations of hunters, monsters, maps and game modes to choose from, no two hunts will ever be the same. It’s survival of the fittest and any side can win. CHOOSE YOUR SIDE.
Back 4 Blood (2021)
Back 4 Blood is a thrilling cooperative first-person shooter from the creators of the critically acclaimed Left 4 Dead franchise. Experience the intense 4 player co-op narrative campaign, competitive multiplayer as human or Ridden, and frenetic gameplay that keeps you in the action.

1000's of hours in L4D1+2 mean that's an easy choice from me
Can evolve still be played solo with bots? I’m guessing the severs have long since shut down but always wanted to give it a try
Evolve had so much potential.
They just didn't update and balance it enough after release. The one monster was just too over powerful. Really ruined the game.
I have to go with L4D still play those games to.this day.
Never played any of their games before..
Evolve was MASSIVELY underrated and would thrive under game pass…I miss it!
