Last week brought us a great surprise in the form of Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii, which is a brand-new game that's been announced for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S - launching in February of next year.
To celebrate the occasion, we thought we'd do a little "Pick One" poll - but we've already done something similar with the "Yakuza" games in the past. So, even though they're technically all part of one series (and yes, we know that Ryu Ga Gotoku translated means "Like a Dragon"), we want to focus on only the most recent entries this time around.
Basically, if the English version of the game has "Like a Dragon" somewhere in its name, we've included it in this poll. You can also go back and look at the poll for the strictly "Yakuza" games elsewhere on Pure Xbox if you're interested:
So, which is your favourite Like a Dragon game on Xbox so far? Let's take a look at them:
Yakuza: Like a Dragon (2020)
Become Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking yakuza grunt left on the brink of death by the man he trusted most. Take up your legendary bat and get ready to crack some underworld skulls in dynamic RPG combat set against the backdrop of modern-day Japan.
Like A Dragon: Ishin! (2023)
Don the clothes and weaponry of the elite to become the samurai of legend, Sakamoto Ryoma. Draw your blade and join the revolution in this heated historical adventure.
Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name (2023)
Once a legendary yakuza, Kazuma Kiryu faked his own death and abandoned his name for the sake of protecting his family. Now, he is thrust into conflict by a mysterious figure attempting to drive him out of hiding.
Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth (2024)
Two larger-than-life heroes, Ichiban Kasuga and Kazuma Kiryu are brought together by the hand of fate, or perhaps something more sinister… Live it up in Japan and explore all that Hawaii has to offer in an RPG adventure so big it spans the Pacific.

Infinite Wealth and it's not even close. That game is an example of how fun games should be.
Edit: And remember the new game is also coming out for Xbox One too.
I only have The man who erased his name from this list on PS5 and both Judgment games, all awesome games.
Out of the options in the poll, Yakuza: Like a Dragon. I haven't played Infinite Wealth but it's something I'll play eventually; I just need to get psyched enough to play an 80+ hours RPG.
My favourite overall is Yakuza 0. Majima's backstory was so sad.
I own a few of these (and Yakuza) but havent gotten around to playing any of them yet. I hear good things about the franchise but seeing trailers or gameplay of them does nothing for me. Someday I will get around to giving them a try but they aren't very high on my priority list.
Well since I only played the first one I will have to go with that one.
Infinite Wealth by far. It's criminal how that game is not in GOTY conversations right now.
Gotta say Like a Dragon from 2020 simply because I still haven't gotten around to playing Infinite Wealth but honestly it's a 50/50 between it(LaD) and Ishin!, both are ***** amazing.
I’m just glad the series is on xbox. This series was pretty much why I owned a ps3 and ps4, but sony controls beat up my hands so I was elated when it was announced the series is going to xbox (and Nintendo Switch). I haven’t played the new ones though (LAD) so I can’t pick a favorite.
That being said I am getting burned out on the series. Crime isn't my cup of tea and the series has essentially been "edgy Shenmue" and VF arcade machine for me. I would like the to see the studio do a new angle that isn't crime/yakuza related.
I have yet to beat Ishin (shelved it to complete Song of Life and TMWEHN) or Infinite Wealth (I'm close). For that reason, I refrained from voting.
Gaiden was awesome.
IW has some good quality of life improvements (Smackdown on weak enemies, haven't reached a big difficulty/level spike yet). In some ways, it is made easier. Enemies don't trip/hit you anymore when you attack one of their allies in the rear.
The one that includes Daytona 2, of course!
LAD 8 for sure since the name change. that game was so emotional for me.
But I prefer the action games to the JRPGs, so Erased his name is pretty close.
If we are talking overall though Kiwami and 0 are neck a neck for me still.
Infinite Wealth slightly edges out the first Like a Dragon. The overall plot in the first was better and far more coherent, but the writing in the second was much better.
The only one of these I didn't play is Ishin.
Infinite wealth is sooooo darn good.
That game belongs in my top 5 all time games.
None of them, sadly. Just do not get the appeal at all.
