It's time for another round of Pick One! With November now finally behind us, we're once again going back and looking at the complete batch of Xbox Game Pass games from last month, with the goal of picking an overall favourite.
Been playing Vampire Survivors almost every day since release to get unlocks (and 50 reward points from achieve more earn more). Been seeing XP gems flowing to the center of my vision when I close my eyes. That game is drugs.
I played and finished Somerville. It was okay. I keep hearing how good Vampire Survivors is but haven’t tried it yet and I’ve started Pentiment, I just hope I can get into that one.
Vampire Survivors for me. I was very excited for Monkey Island and Pentiment, and curious about Gun Grave. But VS is just perfect for short play sessions, especially when I am tired and want some mindless fun, and I keep going back instead of hitting those games I was so psyched to see on the gamepass list
Reading the comments, I’ll give Vampire Survivors a go today.
Without that, I admit the quality bar was higher than it has been for most months, but nothing really got me this last month. I did wrap up Beacon Pines in November though. Was probably my third favorite Gamepass title this year, behind only Immortality and Signalis.
I can't believe so many people like Vampire Survivors that much. I gave it a try & that's about all it got from me. Ghost Song grabbed my attention, though. Left off at the first boss because I kept failing & no matter which way I went there was a big battle.
I got 100% on Vampire Survivors in about a week, and by the end it was an uninteresting chore, made more frustrating by buggy unlocks that caused me to repeat stuff. All it has going for it is an addictive progression loop. Once you figure out how to win, you will never lose, and after about 8 minutes into each run you're just on auto pilot for 22 minutes. It is fun for the first couple play sessions though, when you can still die and are figuring things out.
Pentiment is the best game on this list, art, storytelling, craft, are all superior.
Soccer Story is pretty good too, but the worst part is the actual soccer matches lol. Exploring the map is enough fun, and it's charming enough to make up for it though.
I just started Somerville last night and I actually really liked the first hour or so. They definitely got the atmosphere right. Still too early to tell.
I wanted to like Ghost Song but it just felt janky. Hollow Knight and Ori have set a bar for Metroidvania that Ghost Song didn't meet. The art is amazing and it nailed the Metroid vibe, sort of haunted in a way. I stopped after the first boss/MacGuffin, probably wont go back.
Easily Darktide, cant wait for it to hit series x, although my potato pc runs it surprisingly well in 1080. Light month for me gamepass wise because I was deep in my pathfinder wrath of the righteous playthrough which finished up well over 200 hrs.
Like others here, nothing on this list was exciting or a favorite of mine. To be more accurate, this poll could use a “none” option (and/or a “I don’t have Gamepass” option for anyone who doesn’t).
Vampire Survivors is great but as an old skool gamer, the emphasis on 'old', it has to be Monkey Island for me. I found Pentiment a tad boring. Probably due to me being a bit of a thicko.
I would have said Pentiment although I have only just started it. However, that was before I started playing Vampire Survivors. That was a surprise after switching it off first time I started played it because I didn't understand the 'no attack button' control scheme. Tried again and boy has that just clicked...
Well, I did play Vampire Survivors over the weekend… and have had a hard time stopping playing it. Yeah, it gets my vote. My other half tried it too, despite being essentially an Animal Crossing and Splatoon only player, and was hooked immediately as well.

Pentiment was really, really good - truly mad but really good
Vampire Survivors is awesome.

Loved pentiment.
It can only be Vampire Survivors. And that is coming from someone who isn’t usually into this type of genre or setting.
Vampire Survivors, and I'm not even into those type of games.
Pentiment and Vampire Survivors. In that order.

For me it was a struggle to vote as its not been a month that excites me and yet to play any of them

Didn't realise Vampire Survivors was such a hit. It's so weirdly compelling.
My game's not on this list. I been playing other games.

Vampire Survivors addiction too, and some Pentiment on the side , awesome game, but also trying Immortality.... sooooo much games to play.
Having a blast with Battlefield 2042, was surprised to see how good the game plays and feels after its awful launch
